I bought Alan Wake from Steam yesterday as it was on their "Midweek Madness" sale, and to my utter surprise I found today that Alan Wake and the excellent Zeus have appeared on GOG. Had I known Alan Wake was coming to GOG I would have purchased it here rather than on Steam.

I normally look at GOG at least once a week but cannot remember the website giving any advanced notice for these releases, did I miss something?

The choice of what games get released on GOG seems totally random, but I feel if they are going to start offering new games and competing with the likes of Steam, Impulse and Gamersgate, but offering the game a couple of months after initial release they need to ensure they tell us what games they are going to do that with as I have enough "to be played" games to wait a bit if I KNOW GOG is going to get them, but if they don't give a clue then they are going to keep losing sales.

More often than not, there is no advance warning of when/if a game will appear on GOG.com
Best advice if you only want to visit once per week is to visit on Fridays, so you can see both Thursday and Tuesday releases, along with the Weekend Promo. I would advice though to visit Wednesday and Friday, to also see the Gem promo on the first and third Wednesday of the month.
Alternatively, subscribe to either their twitter or their rss feed, and you'll be notified of any new releases as soon as they happen, though twitter does post the same message every 8 hours or so.
Another thing you can do is try http://www.deals4downloads.com

They have almost all digital sites available letting you know what is on sale and you can easily narrow it to do searches on specific sites (such as GOG and Steam), good way to see deals at a glance.
WTH!? Third try to post something

EDIT - I give up, the forums keep eating everything I type.

EDIT 2 - unless I only type single lines.

Alan Wake was released on Tuesday. Simply check your favourite DD stores before making a purchase (isthereanydeal.com, eg) and you should be golden.
