So, I finally got a few hours today to sit down and actually spend time playing a game. Instead of 10 minutes here. 30 minutes there. I actually set aside time today to play. I chose Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos as my game to settle down with. I figured I'd give it a few hours or so. I have to say this is the first time I've felt really sucked into a game in awhile. The game itself and the controls are very simple. The difficulty is just about right; though one encounter I did have to bluff my way through because I kept getting my ass handed to me and I didn't have enough healing items. As simple as this game seems on the surface; it has tons of atmosphere and personality going on in it. Anyway, are there anymore games like LOL? Are there games you find yourself immersed in and before you know it; hours have passed without you realizing it?

The MMORPG Syndrome ^^
You die of thirst and hunger before you realize it ...

The only game that has led me to postpone important bodily functions as long as possible in the past couple of years was the original Civlization.

If you want games in the same genre (real time blobber) as Lands of Lore, try the game that created the genre - Dungeon Master -, or the modern version of the genre - Legend of Grimrock.
You could try Westwoods LOL predecessors EOB1 and EOB2
I appreciate the input so far. However, I was hoping you all would share some of the games you've found yourself completely immersed in. That's really what I'm looking for in this thread. This is the first time a game has affected me like this in awhile. Maybe it's timing. Or the fact that I have had few distractions today. I noticed that I had been playing it for awhile and realized I had been lost in the game.
Legend of Grimrock is the most recent game that sucked me in like that. I ended up missing meals and loosing sleep, that was how good the game was.

Sengoku (Paradox) was close to doing that as well, though "luckily" it got a bit too repetitive after a while, so I started to notice that time was actually passing, and did not end up missing anything important (it was still a really good game).

Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X, Indigo Prophecy (I think it's called Farenheit in the US).
Usually it's the games where you don't really get stuck (Never will you see a point & click adventure game suck you more than a few hours at the time), and the story advance at such a speed, and in such a way, that you just wanna keep playing.

I'd have to say you're right. Games that just flow well and are interesting seem to keep you glued to your seat. I've just not experienced it in some time I guess. LOL:TTOC had me mesmerized. Hahahaha
In another life (well, it does seem like another life anyway) about a decade back, Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine and Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast were two games that I played literally for about a day (or two) and a night. Maybe it was because that time I just purchased a new (and my first) laptop/notebook, but then again maybe I really liked those two games.

Since then I have played other games much longer than I played those two, but normally I only play several hours at a time, never again a few days like that.
Alpha Centauri, Dungeon Keeper 2, The Longest Journey, Grim Fandango, Fallout 2, Arcanum, Portal 2, Dungeon Siege 2, Bastion are the ones that came to mind as of now.
Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup had me pulling all nighters day after day for a couple of months due to unemployment. The game isn't even all that complicated being a roguelike and all, but it will frustrate you with YASD (yet another stupid death for those not in the know...).

I actually had to stop playing because I am starting a new job today and I didn't want to come in with goblins, hobgoblins, orcs, orc priests (hate those guys and their smite targeting!), elves, shadow dragons dancing before my eyes...

Exactly, which is why LOL is still one of my all-time favorite games.

It seems to be really individual which games people find unusually absorbing. For me, the most absorbing games that make me lose the track of time and make me feel like I'm in the game itself have been Jane Jensen games, mainly Gabriel Knight 1+2 and Gray Matter. They are incredibly thick with atmosphere.

Definitely Ultima VII is a game that sucks you in since the world seems real. The characters each have their own lives and schedules, and the story is deep. The first game of the two, The Black Gate, really pulls you in and feels like a real world where the people do their own things. You can bake bread, pick pumpkins, and do all kinds of non-adventure related jobs to earn money. The second of the two, Serpent Isle, seems more like walking through a play where the actors enter and leave the stage as needed, and that your character is the main actor in the play. It is more linear, and characters' schedules seem more built around the characters' roles than their in-world lives.

Both games are excellent, though, and they come packaged together here.
Evil Genius.
Back when I first got it, I thought I'd sit down and check if the game works, and how it plays before giving it a proper go.
I sat down at about 21:00 on a school night, next thing I know is that it's 03:00 and I'm still "checking" the game...
King's Bounty: The Legend was like that for me. Spent 90 hours playing it over a 2 week period, according to Steam.
