Balazs: Well, here I go:
Name. Dezső
Skills: Superhuman Dexterity, Earth Magic, Languages, Charsima, Music (I sure hope I counted right)
avatar
stoicsentry: By my count, you were 2 points over (you picked 22 points, and it should be 20.)

So I subtracted languages, because it was 2 points exactly.

If you want to re-pick, feel free to do so. If not, I gave you everything you requested besides languages.

You've got a one-handed Axe, 100 gold pieces, and you're ready to go.

Your character can be viewed HERE.
Indeed, I miscalculated. Anyway, the picks are fine as they are. :D
Can I just say that die points seem...a little useless? Notice that the mean roll for a d100 would be 50.5, while the mean roll of a d110 would be 55.5: really not much of an increase, considering that that's five levels up (and the maximum that can be reached). While obviously this is affected by levelling, it's really not much compared with, for instance, getting the ability to use Charisma in those levels. Of course, this only lasts to level 30, but even so. I'd suggest that as your choices seem to reflect a wish to keep the discrepancy between fresh characters and veterans relatively small, you might want to simply apply the die points as a bonus (ie roll a d100+n for n die points). That would give a slightly more reasonable +10 maximum bonus (obviously).

On a similar note, I'd suggest that the hp bonus might be best going to +2, or even +4, for similar reasons.

Id suggest not tripping on the usual rules-metagaming trap... Just play and tweak later if its not fun.

My 2cents.

I understand. PLANNED changes:

-HP bonus changed to +2 per level.
-Die points now are bonuses to roll, rather than affecting the maximum roll. In other words, die points now more useful than before.

I cut out a piece of your post to respond to it separately:

While obviously this is affected by levelling, it's really not much compared with, for instance, getting the ability to use Charisma in those levels.
If you mean that skill points are more valuable than die points, then yes.. that is so.

If anyone would like to comment before we get underway on the level-up rules, please do so.

Once we are started, I would like not to change anything around because that will be chaotic (I will have to change everyone's character).

So does anyone have any further input on the planned changes? I'm planning on creating a roleplay thread soon, so any feedback is welcome!

Maybe, but that's just my immediate thoughts when glancing at it. I can probably see where flaws are likely to occur, or there's a balance issue with the numbers, more easily than most people due to being a very mathematical person.

I think it should be ok now. How often are you expecting us to level up?

Gotcha.

I think the most important thing is that once we're underway, we don't tinker too much with this stuff. Because again, it gets crazy trying to re-create everyone's character.

So that's why I think it's imperative that any suggestions for major changes be made right now, because once we're started, it won't be easy to go back and re-work everything.
I've edited my post to make it clear that part was in response to the poster before you :P Let's hope we can avoid missing each others' messages from now on.

Now to think of a name for my character...

->> I understand your point, but thats precisely the reason ive turned from D&D and other dice heavy RPG's to stuff like Stalker RPG's version of FLOW and ofcourse the new Tremulus.

= no dice to "as small and few dice as possible".

This also minimizes the munchkin loopholes like my Shadowrun adept focused on throwing power and killing offhandedly armored trolls by throwing pencils and game cards etc.

This is conscious choice from my part, as I know I am a goddamn munchkin min-max powerplayer if I get the chance.

Though rollplay has its own attractions, we are always talking about roleplaying afterall ;)

There will be a general roleplay thread for people that are only interested in the casual elements of the game. No leveling there.

For the events (mini-quests, sparring events, etc.), you gain 1 level for completing the intended objectives. If you don't complete the intended objectives, you gain 0.5 of a level simply for participating. That way it's not completely useless to participate even if things don't work out.

If we have some kind of event that is more intensive, then we can consider a higher reward than just a single level.

Indeed. I try to avoid min/maxing, too, and quite regularly go out of my way to make a character who's unique, but not necessarily in a good way. For instance, I once came up with a character concept which I haven't yet had the chance to play...

Wait a second. I could play that concept in this campaign, and it would fit in with my build pretty much (though I'd have to switch out locks for...charisma probably). Stoic, how would you feel about my character's native shape being an animal, who's gained the ability to change shape in some way?

That is fine. Let me know and I'll add those details to your character sheet.

Cough...NWN1..Cough...Player Resource Consortium..Cough...Mindflayer-Paladin-Figher-Shining Blade of Heiraneus...Cough^2

(Why do I still remember this kind of things? :< )
I have to confess that I've never actually played NWN. The main reason has been that I didn't know I could even get it any more until I discovered gog recently, and since then I've...inexplicably discovered a backlog of games and vanishing of money :)

For the sake of not having a completely off topic post, I think my character will be called...Chalael. I'll keep his native species secret for now, if that's ok, and PM it to Stoic (once I've decided for certain!) He won't be in that form to begin with, probably, and it would be nice to keep it a mystery for a bit :)

Sounds good. Character name updated.
OK, so the MAIN THREAD has been posted. There you will find ALL of the important links to everything, including your character profiles.

This thread will be used only for character creation in the future. So unless you are creating a character, please direct all comments to the MAIN THREAD.

Additionally, on the main thread you will see that the roleplaying thread has been created. Use this for in-character roleplaying. This will be the central roleplaying location. It is a non-combat place for character development and interaction.

Quests, battles, events, etc. will be in a different thread.

AGAIN, so there's nothing unclear: I would recommend clicking "favorite" on the MAIN THREAD as it will contain all useful links, and will be the central hub for game discussion. I also encourage you to visit Halstead's Inn, the roleplaying thread (link found on main thread).
Quoting everyone so they will see the post above.
