RangerSolo: Thanks for the info there. Never tried steam so I don't know what new pleasures or headaches I'll find. But I really do hope that staff here at GOG really take note of this thread and our pleads.

Aye also the Witcher 2 port isn't out yet - it doesn't come out until the fall and will be a native version when it does. There's no word on how it will be distributed. Steam has an exclusive deal on the Mac port (done in Wine) of The Witcher 1, but I don't know how long it lasts or what the other distribution channels will be when the exclusivity deal expires. Who knows? Maybe GOG (probably not) ;)

We can most definitely hope for a GOG version for sure.
<---- Linux part-time.
Don't have much to say. One of the thousands of Linux users here on GOG. Annoyed at GOG's stance towards Linux support. Wouldn't bother with Windows at all if it weren't for the very compatibility issues that Microsoft themselves far too often implement. Haven't cared about Macintosh since the Apple II, I'm afraid. Selling multi-platform indie titles and only offering the Windows installers is beyond ridiculous. Hopefully they'll figure that out when they lose enough sales to Desura and have enough pre-orders cannibalized by indie bundles or something.
Just wanted to say: I have four devices with Linux installed on them: netbook, smartbook, smartphone (and I mean GNU/Linux, not Android) and handheld console. I play games on all four of them. And I don't have Windows installed on any device of mine.

So yes, I do use Linux for gaming, I totally do.

Linux versions of games purchased here is what we certainly need, I believe.
Linux user here!

I'm OpenSUSE user full-time. Well... Windows only for some games that wine don't load.
*Raise hand*

Mac OSX user here, ex-Ubuntu/Windows XP user, ex-Amiga/Windows 98 user.

Dosbox / Wine / ScummVM for games that allows it,
VirtualBox / Parallels with Windows XP, for less tolerant ones,
Bootcamp for the more problematic ones.
2 OSes here: Win7 for gaming (and my franken-PC is still under remodeling...) and my MacBook Pro 13-inch running Mac OS X 10.7 Lion (and Mountain Lion next month) for everything else.

BJ
Finally re-made the jump. Now running Linux-Mint.
The Linux gaming situation is actually looking up. See my blog post here:

So, suddenly I've become a Mac OS X user, too. Have to say that I do keep a box with a genuine Windows 7 in my drawer, but I haven't got a single computer capable to run it (well, iMac is capable, actually, but there's no place for a third OS on it). So, now I'm raising my second hand =)
I've had Lubuntu on a netbook for a while now, so when I decided Windows needed a reinstall a few weeks ago, I figured you know what, I have no interest in the upcoming Win 8 and I don't game much these days so why not give Ubuntu 12.04 a shot. Have to say I'm enjoying myself at this point.
Adding myself into this list. At one point I had installed 8 different flavours of Linux in a single machine. It was a fun exercise if nothing else. Right now I run Ubuntu 9.10 and will remain there while looking for what Linux distribution out there to switch to. Currently leaning on Arch Linux because of its rolling releases.
Been using Ubuntu for the best part of 7 years now. Never had a problem with it, although given that my gaming needs and work both require me to use Windows, I use Windows more at present, but when it comes to software development, writing for myself, listening to music, video editing and so on, I use Ubuntu.

Hopefully WINE will be in a state in the near future that enables me to dispense with Windows entirely. I know they've been focussing on game compatibility of late, probably because most productivity needs are met by WINE already or are covered by comparable native software.

I used Ubuntu for the better part of 3 weeks... I played and beaten S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SoC twice and I really did enjoy using Ubuntu... I stopped using due to my crappy unstable Nvidia 460gtx... Once I swap that for a 285gtx I probably will revert back to Ubuntu.

I am a part-time Arch Linux user. I am still using Windows for games and Word mostly.
