Pemptus: No game surpasses the epicness of Commander Keen, try as they might. You might as well finish them.

Detlik: Okay...I am going to finish second one then :/
Then the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and lost episodes! :D

Keen Dreams is freeware. Keen 6 isn't sold anywhere.

Ahh, what a shame id (for whatever reason) don't sell six... :C
Alpha Centauri when after stockpiling planet busters for decades, you declare war on everyone...
Dragon Age: Origins had a very epic feeling to it, one of the best in recent memory that actually felt lilke a grand epic adventure and put you at the head of it all.

Dragon age II, fell flat on it's face in this regard.

Myth II: Soulblighter had a very epic storyline about it. It's an RTS game, but it's not like other RTS games. It was an RTS game that focused SOLELY on storylinel and combat. There was no base building, no research or anything. You were given command of a limited number of troops for that storyline mission, and that's that.

The storyline was told via animated cutscenes and in-between missions from a journal that was read by a great narrator, it gave it a very epic old-style fantasy feeling.
So I blew up Earth in Commander Keen 2...it was accident I swear!!! <.<

Didn't it have a different developer and/or publisher? And...
The Game is, however, famous for the abnormally large number of glitches present during gameplay. In certain parts of the game, keen can fall through walls and platforms, and also present is the famous Impossible Bullet glitch. In addition, saving in certain locations can freeze or crash the game, of even warp keen to a different location...

grviper:
It was published by FormGen, and I never had an issue with it.

However, the SOD episodes were also by FormGen but they sell those, so it's still confusing.

de_Monteynard: Outcast. Because all you get is epic.
Yay! Another vote for Outcast!
Have you even found anything like it? I mean when you finish an awesome RPG like an Infinity game you at least have a bunch of other RPGs you can play but there doesn't seem to be much quite like Outcast...

Detlik: Hey everybody,
Some of you may remember me as the guy with HUGE backlog...but that is irrelephant (look in attachments). But I have to ask, which games you know are epic in story-wise and "feel-wise" (simply the feeling when you play the game and you just want to yell "Holy Mud-crab (been playing too much Skyrim lately) this game is EPIC" I had that feeling while playing Darksiders for example.

So feel free to post your favorite "epic games" :)
Planescape: Torment
Mass Effect 1-2
Epic as in compelling story and large?
Ultima VII, of course, is a true epic in every sense of the word,
Planescape:Torment has an incredible story and a long, compelling campaign,
Baldur's Gate has a very interesting story and plenty of Dungeons And Dragons goodness,
Ultima IV has an excellent story,
and if you look around here you will find many epics.
Well this is a bit off form usual recommendations, but here it goes:

Deathspank

Everything in that game is turned up to 11 by epic standards.

Just look at the beauty of the ultimate sword:

Very beautiful sword...btw finished Keen 1,2,3 how do you like me now? :D
Heavy Rain and Uncharted 2.

Both of those give me that epic feeling you are describing, and I remember them fondly even though it's already quite some time since I've finished them.

Usually, a good game grows on you while you play it but you tend to forget it after a while. A great game, on the other hand, stays with you long after you've finished it. Heavy Rain and Uncharted 2 belong to the latter. :D
