So Man of Steel is officially out now in the States. I'll be seeing it Sunday, so can anyone who's already seen it tell me how it was? Consensus on /co/ is around 8/10, which makes me hopeful.
I can't say, because it's coming out a week later here. Bastards.

Just hope I get to see a decent 2D showing.

English or dubbed?

I was surprised how hard it was to find English soundtrack when I lived in Europe.

I hope we'll get to see a 2D English showing, but the only confirmed one is an hour away. It's also dependent on subtitles. I can do without the subtitles, my girlfriend less so.

English showings are fairly rare, but Germany is actually one of the exceptions. The Netherlands and most of Scandinavia show most films in the original language, and even France shows both original and dubbed in most multiplex cinemas.

The movie isn't that good, apparently. Pretty generic superhero movie.

I lived in Georgia and spent a lot of time in Turkey as well. Only English screenings I saw were in Tbilisi and even there it was like once a week. I assume that's because it was Tbilisi though, haha.

Thankfully, this horrible trend didn't come to Poland.

There are dubbed films, but they are in minority, mostly biggest blockbusters, but they always have original version with subtitles.

My gf was in Hamburg once, she went to see Dark Knight. German dubbing ruined everything actors tried to achieve.

But I guess people are too lazy to read nowadays.

Seems to be another case of reviewers vs. viewers. The general public who have seen the film so far (it had its premiere in many cinemas yesterday evening in the US and UK) seem to have absolutely loved it.

And personally, I'd trust the word of a close friend over that of a click-bait reporter.

Probably, if you're a big superman fan, you will like it very much.

I, personally, have kind of enough of Superhero movies. They are all the same, only costumes change.

Although I liked ST: Into Darkness, if that can be seen as superhero movie of sorts.

Does is have any gratuitous sex scenes?

No?

I'll pass. :D

Seriously I do want to see it but fifty miles down to the theatre and then fifty miles back. Unless it's fucking amazing it's just not worth the drive.

That seems to happen an awful lot sadly....

Indeed. Contrarianism is not only the 'in' thing nowadays. It's also a business tactic, as being contrarian brings in countless more clicks to your website.

Problem is, they're all latching on to this tactic now, which means that the mainstream reviews are overwhelmingly negative, while the indie ones are all positive.

I'm going to skip watching this at the cinema, probably just rent it on bluray.

I really, really, REALLY want to see a new bad guy rather than a rehash of Reeve's villains. Put Doomsday, Brainiac, Darkseid or even Lobo in the antagonist seat and I'll be first in line to go see it.
Well, I guess when a superhero movie gets 60% positive reviews, it means it's pretty good.

Although The Avengers on Rotten Tomatoes got very high reviews, but from the time perspective, I don't think it was that good of a movie.

Iron man 3 got overall positive reviews as well:

I don't know, maybe I'm just too picky. But I expect more from movies, even superhero movies. I have enough of "Will he save the world and get the girl?" story being told over and over again. It's not 1960s anymore.

I will see Man of steel in cinema anyway, probably next week :P I'm afraid there will be shitload of kids in the theatre though.
