sauvignon1: Random question: does your theater show movies with subtitles, or do they dub with German?
A small number show the films in English without subtitles, but the vast majority show the films in German. That doesn't bother me so much, but the fact that I get headaches from 3D and now have a problem with one eye means that 3D is out of the question for me. Not to mention the absurd prices of 3D movies.

jamyskis: Apparently the cinemas here that were advertising Man of Steel in 2D are now unable to show the film in 2D and have been refunding bookings.

Fuck 'em. I'm downloading a copy from the net. If Warner Bros. want my money, they'll get it when the Bluray comes out.
Did they say why? really quite odd..

Just wrote back to the cinema to ask why. Might get an answer today, I don't know...
[spoilers]

I've seen this movie today. Kind of mixed bag for me.

The first minutes of the movie were ok, and then it goes to earth. We see supes being at all places at once. He's at the bar, he's on the ship, he's on the helicopter to antarctica or wherever the hell that was.

There also was the female reporter on a military facility for whateve reason.

From this chaos, supes finds his super duper suit and few minutes later, Zod strikes.

Oh, and horrible scenes with supes and both dads, and scene at the church was godawful and totally unnecessary.

Let's be honest - the story in this movie is garbage. On the other hand, I liked the fact they didn't focus on comic reliefs like in Disney superhero movies, because that would be just awful.

Action part of the movie was superb. Dragon Ball - level fighting was very good to watch, and the fights were long, didn't end after 2 minutes to crack a joke like in some movies.

Although it's getting tiring how superheroes demolish half of the town with their bodies and they don't hit anybody by accident. But I guess that would make some soccer moms angry.

7/10 for a superhero movie.

Yeah, the movie is pretty serious. Sometimes too serious, there is a scene with a tornado that was just unintentionally ridiculous.

Bur no cracking jokes in between destroying the city.

And that is why I like DC better than Marvel...they are Dark, heck I would like to read more Dark Age Comic Books than anything in the Golden/Silver age.

After IronMan 3 I want something serious.

And there are people dying on screen ulnike in Avengers where nobody dies except the aliens.

Even I called bullshit on the fact that no one died in the Avengers, I will say though is the soundtrack generic?

Because Hans Zimmer is known for not making memorable music.

Even though I liked it Hans Zimmer just does not know how to make memorable music, we need better composers in film and games :P

I loved the soundtrack, have had it in my head for a week.

I would say DC ventures into too dark now movie wise
I mean Chris Nolan's Batman voice was just stupid and yet somehow got praise from people
Although if you add TDKR and all its plot issues then you have a basic comedy
I quite enjoyed the movie. Nothing grand, but I wasn't expecting that much. It's nothing I'd ever need to see again, but that's the point of popcorn flicks like this.
