reaver894: Am I the only one that still prefers office 03?
Emphatically not. All post-2003 versions of MS Office need to die.

Wishbone: Me too. As far as I'm concerned, the ribbon interface was a mistake, one that MS simply refuses to acknowledge by insisting that it is better, all evidence to the contrary. But then, that seems to be their thing: forcing unsuitable GUIs on people who don't want them.

wpegg: There is a saying, which I think originated at MS - "If you take a bad idea, and push it hard enough, you can turn it into a good idea".

They're nearly there with the ribbon. People are coming round to it.
The ones that haven't completely abandoned them.

It's because most people can't remember the superior menu system. Where you could find how to do everything without having to do a google search.

Hahah, so true. I've hated the ribbon ever since Office 2007 introduced the abomination. I remember being in the computer lab at college after they upgraded to 2007 and I couldn't find any of the commands I needed-despite the fact that the thing was gigantic and took up way more screen space than the menu bar.

I've gotten accustomed to it since because thats what they have at work but sometimes I still find myself hunting for the correct option/command.
