What is the difference between Office 2010 and 365? Is there a 2013 version?

I am very tired, so I will elaborate only slightly, I hope someone else does (tomorrow). There is a new version of office which is 2012. There is also the cloud. This is office 365, it's not bad, but more work than it's worth.

It's all about what you want from your product rather than what' is better.

EDIT: Why are you asking?

2013 is a stand-alone version, eligible to install only on one PC (like OEM). 365 is a service, for which you have to pay every month (like the new Adobe product suite). 365 gives you an on-line Cloud version access and the standalone 2013 licenses to install on you workstation.

BTW. You change even one thing in your PC, your license for 2013 might go off, but I'm not sure.
If this is for home use then do not waste money on MS Office when you can get Open Office for free and it happily saves in .doc format.

Nah, the license should be tied to MoBo. ;)

Openoffice is dead and is superseded by Libreoffice - which is a fork of the former. Functionally identical and surpassed in that there are no corporate interests and the organisation is better structured.
Office 2013: 1 computer, upgrades are not free, can be used forever.
Office 365: 5 computers, upgrades are free, can be used while subscription lasts.

Go with whatever suits you more.

I cannot deny they are the same as I have Libreoffice on the Linux and Open on the the Windows. Functionality wise both the same, in fact if you were to show both in a blind test I guess most of it would be too alike to really know the difference.
So a second link https://www.libreoffice.org/
Thanks for the help. I currently have Office 2007 on my laptop and 2010 on my netbook. So Office 365 is a subscription service like Norton 360, and Office 2013 can only be put on one computer with one account.
Am I the only one that still prefers office 03?
I've never used it but there is softmaker, another alternative to microsoft office

you sir have a refined taste then :-)

or like me am just a dinosaur that refuses to move with the times
As a little side note, if you buy 365 you will get a free one year membership for X-Box Live.

With 365 you can use Office Web Apps, Sky Drive and Skype (Home Premium)
or more if you buy (and pay more) a other Version of 365.

Typesetting in Office is still so bad that manual adjustments are needed for anything more complex than a draft of an intra-department memo. I strongly recommend you to go with the free software.
