It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

First of all, I think this installer is kind of a bad idea. I didn't need it to download Blood and the game was transferred just fine. I currently can't download Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition after having purchased it because;

After downloading Adobe AIR, and the gog.com installer, (I saved these files to disc) there is no more instructions on what to do next. I tried clicking the shortcut for the gog.com installer, but my computer says it cannot open the file til' it knows what created it. I used the web service to find what type of file created it, and the results come back saying it's an unknown type of file, and that windows does not recognize it as a type of file.

Unfortunatly the topic relating to problems with the GOG.com installer was not in laymens terms, and some techno jargain was used and I am unaware what exactly I'm being told to do. Not sure if that is even the particular problem in this case.

Anyone have any ideas of what I am to do next? And again, no offence but I would like to stress that I think the installer is an unnecissary complication that is just causing more problems.
You did install Adobe air, before you tried to execute the GOG downloader, right?

If you've done that then the computer should know how to handle that, otherwise it might not be properly associated.

You might want to tell us what OS version you're using.

EDIT: Usually, I just have the browser open the downloader file without first saving to disk.

Also, the downloader is in no way necessary to download or install the games, it's only made available as an alternative to downloading directly through the browser.

(It's not an installer, but merely a downloader, as its name suggests.)

Thus, if you have no problems downloading directly (such as an unstable and/or slow connection), I suggest doing just that.

Thank you very much sir. For some reason I thought it was the new(and only) way to download.

People who can't use the downloader tend to use freedownloadmanager.org

You're welcome. The downloader has been around since forever (or just about, it was apparently introduced on September 29, 2008), so it's not exactly new either. Though there have been a few hickups along the way, it was disabled for a while as the site went out of beta.

If you like to use a downloader instead of the browser, you can also try this community downloader:

http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/jgogdownloader

Works really well, downloading the games with all extras and also the cover art :)
Is there a new version out? I can't find anything newer than v0.9.3.0.
