The sequel to one of my favourite games of all time. And the long 8 year wait after, denied the boxed set by our Government. Damn I really our government who are good for nothing other than taking the highest pays in the world, making us work like dogs and milking the money off us. Now they mess with the sequel to one of my favourite games!

Can you get it from overseas on ebay?
Can't you just use Steam? Or do they enforce the ban there, too?
Maybe your politicians saw too much of themselves reflected in the antics of the on screen Mafioso. But then if that were true it would be in danger of being banned worldwide.
If you read the article, it is just a matter of censoring nudity and the like.
In a nutshell:
Playboy is banned in Singapore
Whatshisface collects "vintage" issues of Playboy instead of gold coins or pigeons. The covers are visible and blatant.
So it could probably be solved if a censored version of the game were released. Of course, it is questionable as to why porn mags were used in the first place, but whatever.
Maybe they could take the piss and replace it with the magazine "Fascist Dictator Monthly" (possible problems with Red Dwarf though) and the magazines would contain articles about moronic attempts to enforce morality through the law (I suspect there's be a lot of mentions of american creationists and the south australian attorney general).
You know, I'd buy that as DLC!
Isn't Singapore the country where chewing gum is forbidden?
And you worry about Mafia 2?

I seem to recall reading that playboy was a major pop culture phenomenon in the 50s, leaving it out would probably have been like leaving out neon pink in GTA Vice City

Politicians rely on votes. Consider using yours if you haven't lately.

I don't see how the hell they can ban Steam. They won't. If they do, I'll slap them with a lawsuit of all my games lost, even though it's only a few since I avoid buying games on Steam. Which brings up the complaint that I want the boxed set and because of that ban I've to get it from Steam since it uses Steamworks... I'm angry at their ignorance too. I've sent them hate mail:

Not nearly insulting enough to entice the cops to nab me. Maybe I should tone it up a little. Add some vulgarities here and there. I pity the person who pisses me off at work tomorrow.

Yes, I am sure THAT was their intent...
Fine, want to add the flavor, add the flavor. But still no need for making collectible sex cards (even if a hilarious precedent was set :p).
Just saying, if anyone wants to get angry, don't forget to be angry at the devs/publisher too. Singapore may have censorship rules that are a bit extreme, but these are well-established censorship rules.

Can't say that I disagree. I'm sure 2K knew that by including Playboy mags they would be limiting the countries it could be sold in uncensored, but they probably decided the media attention from the censorship and added appeal to the 13-year-old audience would make up for it.

Do the cops really nab people for just making insulting posts?

They can force steam to not sell in the country though, trust me there's a lot of that happening here

If you openly insult the government bodies, or call bluff/farce to their policies/activities/or whatever without substantial evidence, there's this secret police that will bring those involved into questioning.
But over these few years, they know they can't control the Internet. So everyone badmouths them. Small angry peasant fries like us won't be nabbed. Unless we get popular all the sudden, or influential, then the chance will be high that one goes into questioning. And I've no idea what happens after that. Solitary confinement, get sued etc...
Also they employ people(dogs we call them) to police the Internet for comments. They might just spread propaganda about how awesome the gov is. And scold anyone who badmouths the government. Of course, most of them get flamed pretty bad. I've flamed one myself on another popular local blog till he had nothing better to reply to me other than calling me worthless dog.
