After releasing the first three installments of this acclaimed series, it was only natural to add Heroes of Might and Magic 4 to the lineup. We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we did!

You probably know this already, but [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/heroes_of_might_and_magic_4_complete]Heroes of Might and Magic 4 is a casual, fantasy-themed turn-based strategy, in which you explore a magical land and lead hordes of mythical creatures against the enemies of your realm. The Complete edition includes the original game and its two expansions: The Gathering Storm and Winds of War, giving you countless hour of gameplay to look forward to.
The fourth installment of the series remains the fabulous fairy-tale design and beautiful 2D graphics, but also was somewhat innovative, as it added many new features to the well-established gameplay of its predecessors, most notably letting the Heroes participate in battles. Get your copy today and find out how the gameplay evolved.

termit: Yes! The best in the HOMM series for me (and yeah, I know I am a minority, but hey, it's the haters that miss an excellent game for this ;))
I have it in cardbox, but I am buying it here again. It's just that good.
Agree with that, by far the best.
I'm honestly pretty surprised to see all of the positive reactions to this release in this thread

I usually thought that many people really hated IV - It's nice to see such enthusiasm about the game here! :)

LordAvatar: HOMM IV - despised by many, loved by some...
I had mixed feelings with it, the best thing that i remember was the ability to have monster stacks sans the hero. Nice release.

Do you mean this edition???

If so i'm the same, Iv'e re-bought the ones GOG has with the exception of HoMM 1 which I cany justify $10 for when I have it and wasn't overly keen on it.

That would be wise, yes. >:)
FYI, it appears this game has serious performance issues with Windows 7 - though possibly only with the 64bit versions. So you may wanna hold out until GOG releases a patch or something.
I personally think that the main thing that was wrong with this game was the lack of a demo. It's not a very wise move to make major changes to a beloved series and not release a demo. I you wanted to know if you liked the game or not you had to buy it. Rewievs were not helpful. Som rewievers hate the game for various reasons while others loved it and praised it as the best game in the series.

I myself never bought it. Mostly bad rewievs, units that looked a lot worse than in the 3rd game (and 2nd too for that matter) and the lack of a demo made me decide that it was not worth it for me.

I only got it cause it was on offer in PC World, I wanted HoMM 5 and that collection was cheaper than the base HoMM5, never even thought id try the others but i got curious.
