After releasing the first three installments of this acclaimed series, it was only natural to add Heroes of Might and Magic 4 to the lineup. We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we did!

You probably know this already, but [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/heroes_of_might_and_magic_4_complete]Heroes of Might and Magic 4 is a casual, fantasy-themed turn-based strategy, in which you explore a magical land and lead hordes of mythical creatures against the enemies of your realm. The Complete edition includes the original game and its two expansions: The Gathering Storm and Winds of War, giving you countless hour of gameplay to look forward to.
The fourth installment of the series remains the fabulous fairy-tale design and beautiful 2D graphics, but also was somewhat innovative, as it added many new features to the well-established gameplay of its predecessors, most notably letting the Heroes participate in battles. Get your copy today and find out how the gameplay evolved.

LordAvatar: HOMM IV - despised by many, loved by some...

There are numerous features distinguishing HOMM IV from it's noble predecessors, but one in particular stands out, proudly leading the charge; enter: single player campaigns.

Let's face it, all the previous installments, despite brilliant gameplay, were badly lacking in the SP department. Bleak characters, vauge briefings, not one memorable HERO or cutthroat. HOMM IV introduces rpg-style campaigns and oh, believe me - unless you are allergic to reading (which is a serious malady and should be treated accordingly) you'll love them. Character background? Check. Motivation? Check. Twisted plots? Check. Love? Check. Vengeance? Check. Vengance in the name of love? It's there. Love in the name of vengeance? You guessed it... It's all there, well written, believable and enticing.

My recommendation - go for it and don't look back.
Well written, how come you dont add to forums much?
Just like Might&Magic VII, I already have HoMM IV and all its extensions. But I might rebuy it one day just for the sake of "no discs - no scratches". ^_^

Anyway, it's good to finally see that game here, it deserves it!!
Damn...all of these "Heroes" series releases really make me want HOMM-V on gog.com

let's hope it comes here soon!
This is a great surprise for me, thanks GOG! This game deserves to be avaible via GOG.

Roman5: Also: BIG props to GoG for adding the soundtrack! definitely the best soundtrack in the series!
I agree. I remember the game had an awesome soundtrack, and it was good to listen to. I especially like the towns' sounds, but the whole soundtrack is great.

Makes me want to say: "Yarrrr matey!" everytime I hear it

I personally expected to see HOMMIV on gog.com sooner or later

what I DIDN'T EXPECT however were 3 new updates in one day with 2 new releases

This makes me really excited about what games Ubisoft will put out in march on gog.com
I enjoyed Heroes4, especially the music. Nice release!
I wasn't realy happy with part 4, but I'll give it a try eventually.

Nonetheless, it's awesome release, and the fact we can expect more Ubisoft games is even more awesome (PoP and General series, and I really cross my fingers for SSI crpgs, I believe GOG can do miracles, and this would be a miracle)
ihmo, not as good as HOMM3 but still better than the newer ones.

also the soundtrack is woth 9.99 alone.
Finally!

Is anyone willing to exchange this for 4 SEGA classic games on GamersGate or for Battlefroge points?

Outstanding release, no questions asked. I never understood why people despised HoMM IV and wondered why HoMM V was lacklustre - you just can't sit back the whole time, after 3rd installment, an excellent one, yet lacking any real inspiration or innovation, the series badly needed something new, fresh, original - and HoMM IV provided an astonishing amount of new content, ideas and gameplay tweaks.

Absolute must for any fantasy/4X gamer out there.

Oh, and I forgot - Ubisoft (and GOG) - give us Heroes Chronicles Complete (with two free expansions that are not available to buy anywhere)!
Oh, sweet, my friend's favorite HoMM. I'm more of a HoMM2 person, but i was itching to give it another go. As far as i remember, the game got a lot of bashing, for not continuing the same gameplay from the same perspective as the previous titles, but by itself was quite a nice game. Sort of the fandom response UFO: Apocalypse got.

I suppose the game got such a negative response for being so different

many people didn't like it, but I found a lot of neat things about it
