SmashManiac: Yet again another RTS game?
Maybe it's time to release games for other genres too?

We just had an RPG last week and a adventure game just before that...

You do have to admit that a few of the latest releases have been rather RTS-ish with a few different genres thrown in for good measure.

Realms of arkania // RPG
Praetorians // RTS
The longest Journey // Adventure
The settlers // RTS
Incoming forces // Arcade Shooter
Port Royale // Business sim/RTS
Expendable Arcade // 3rd person shooter
Might and magic 6 // RPG
Seems a fairly diverse line up to me.
Seems diverse to me too.
The last 2 RTS games were released close each other since they are both from Kalypso / Pyro Studios.
There aren't any more games from Pyro, except Commandos series and Planet 51.

That's kinda what popped in my head too, but I don't mean it as a knock against gog. It's more of a pc gaming thing. I thought "wow how many historical rts games that take place centuries ago do pc gamers need?".
I'm still a pc gaming noob, so maybe I am missing something, but the pc game library seems to be flooded with them

I'm going to have to get this... From the screenshots it looks like Empire: Total War is a clone of it and (even though Empire is completely bug ridden and sometimes unwieldy to play) I loved Empire and this time period.

Oh god I hope next week's release is Commandos. Pleasepleasepleaseplease, GOG?
I can highly recommend Imperial Glory (especially at this price ;).
The 3D battles may lack the smoothness of Total War games' controls, but I found the tactical map much more detailed and "logical". The diplomacy options are way more varied, and unlike TW, securing victory through peaceful means is actually a possibility (yes, I know TW says it's possible, but I never managed it and it's certainly much trickier than here).
low rated
how about getting wizardry 1-8, wizards & warriors(this would be good for gog since it requires some fixing to run under "modern" windows and most boneheads won't get it), dung(eon) lords CE(actually with the CE it's not that bad), the rest of the M&M games, Warlords turn based games, civ III complete, alpha centauri "complete", etc.
..and not these arcane uninteresting strategy games that only interest some grognards, as I like strategy games, but these kalupso games leave MUCH to be desired given what else is available epsecially given their HoI-III sprite pack DLC fiasco(fuck 'em! money grubbing bastards)
(Crap! The total war series would be better than pandering to these guys...)
Hhhhhhooooorrrrrssssseeeeee Aaaaaaahhhhhhrrrrrmmmmmmuuuuuurrrrhhhhh only $2! FTW! (featuring no mounted combat?!)
How about getting Caesar IV, Imperium Romanum Gold, etc? Why crappy games after a couple ancient CRPGs?
FFS I'd appreciate some good Witcher modules instead of most of this tripe...

If we are talking old PC games then there are gonna be a LOT of RTS games. For a long period RTS was the big genre on PC... Basically from Dune 2 onwards, until around 3-4 years ago, it was RTS city.
But as very few of GOG's recent releases have been RTS games, i'm a bit confused by the complaints.

I'm sure they were going to do all that, but then they rolled around in their piles of money for awhile, cackled and decided to screw us all over.
Jesus, grow up dude. They can only release games that the publishers let them release.

That's exactly it. Empire's like the 1.5 update of IG, four years later.
I found IG easier than the TW games, though, and I prefer it because of that.
A new game release is great and all, but GOG needs to release more FPS'es. There hasnt been a FPS release lately.
