I never got too far in KQ8. I thought it was rather balls.
KQ7 however...now that is a classic! I rated the bundle 5-stars solely on the merits of KQ7.

OK, so I couldn't resist. hehe.

+1
i think i'll wait for a 50% sale (already own Telltale bundle).
Is it Windows version or DOS version of KQ7? Windows version is a bit better graphically than the DOS version.
KQ8 was disappointing at the time, and it hasn't aged all that well. Some of the settings make good screenshots (the dragon and snow look quite nice) but the Daventry countryside and Land of the Dead are flat, foggy, bleak, and boring. I take it that this version will come pre-patched to avoid the bugs that originally shipped with the game that made it impossible to complete?
It's interesting (and somewhat disheartening) to note that KQ8 sold twice as many copies as Grim Fandango, which was released the same year.
Well this is good as it completes the series. King's Quest 7 is definitely not for me as I don't like the disney style at all. There is too much of that in the earlier games already, especially with the story it seems.
I'm interested in playing some of the earlier games with my nephew and niece. The first four seem like the best because they seem like fun adventures. Number 5 and 6 seem to be more plot heavy, and the plot seem rather cheesy and full of Disney sentimentality. They seem to many qualities though, and look as they can be enough, but not too scary for my seven year old niece. I will most certainly turn off the voices go for text only!
I guess the earlier games are quite difficult so I will have some walkthroughs ready. I usually don't use those but I think it will be better to not waste too much of our time.
If any of you are looking for some games to play with kids there is a really great adventure game called Simon the Sorcerer that is sold here. It is also based on fairy tales in addition to fantasy and has a more comedic approach. The comedy is funny for both children and grownups but despite that there is a good feeling of fairy tale\fantasy throughout the game. The graphics and voices are great and the music is good.

There's also the Gobliiins series, I really think you should try one of those, they're awesome :)
On Steam you can also find Monkey Island 1 and 2 redone with hi-res graphics, remastered soundtrack and with a good voice acting (you can also play them in "original" mode)

Well, I have the 1-7 collection and fan-patched they all play great, so none of these releases appealed to me before. I don't own KQ8 though, and in fact I never played it. I wonder if that is worth $10 on its own, or more importantly worth the time to play it.
King's Quest 8 is a pretty horrible game, but I'm glad that they included it. What could be a horrible game for one, could be a hidden treasure to another.

Could you post a link to the patch? im having some problems getting it to work properly.
KQ8 does not run for me at all, no matter how much I fiddle with compatibility settings.
Exception code: 0xc0000005 which refers to a DEP error...
Oh well, can't win them all.

Thanks for the tip. I will probably play Day of the Tentacle and some Monkey Island games with them in the future. I think i prefer the original graphics, though the remade graphics looked nice too.

Not really, I have a backup and didn't save the page. All I would be doing is a google search the same as you can do. Sorry.

Do you mean maybe Sierrahelp ? There is a big patch for the collection at the bottom and worked fine with my downloaded collection.
