usually I try to avoid making topics like these, however this is a pretty special occasion so I might as well now

Today my brand new watch arrived in the mail and not just any Watch, a brand new Russian Vostok watch, I have wanted to own one for a long time and now that I finally had a chance and decided on the right model: Ekranoplan

This is pretty much the best watch I have ever held on my arm (in my opinion) and I have tried many watches on my hand in the 300-600 pound sterling region.

I'm really happy that I finally got one and just wanted to share this with you

How about you use this opportunity to tell us about the watch you own and how you have obtained it? just curious what kind of watches do GoG users wear :)

As I believe has become increasingly common during the last decade, especially among teenagers and young adults, I don't wear a watch but instead make use of my cellphone. The last watch I used was a Swatch.beat.

Anyone remember those? Swatch tried to introduce a timezone-less/DST-less measurement of time, dividing up the day in 1000 beats, naturally 0/1000b was 0/24h Swiss time.

A long time ago, I mentioned to someone I knew that I'm in need of a proper watch, so he gave me an Omega watch right there and said that it's a really expensive and fine watch. I wore it for some time, but one day I almost lost it, so I returned it with the excuse that "the stress is killing me, man", after which I proceeded to buy a rather cheap (in comparison, that is) Leijona Titanium. I don't remember anymore, but I think I might've chosen it based on just the icy cool name and how it looks.

That was years ago. I still have/use that said Leijona Titanium and it's very nice. I can't find a picture of the exact model online and my camera's hidden somewhere hundreds of kilometers away. It's of a rather simple design, with leather straps and a sapphire glass. Says "Sapphire Glass 5088-907 ALL TITANIUM 3ATM WATER RESISTANT JAPAN MOVEMENT" on the back.
I think I am in a minority these days, but I miss the simple Casio Digital Watches that were all the rage in the 80s... I used to love them. Dirt cheap, just told the time, had an alarm and a countdown timer and that is all. Anyone else liked them? I have not seen them anywhere these days.
Well, I'm currently using a cheap Casio Illuminator (Can't find the exact model around). I think it cost me around $70 current dollars.

2 main reasons: I can't stand analogical watches, and I don't have money to buy an expensive watch.

But even if I could, other thoughts come to mind. These cheap watches usually last around 5 years with me, and a relatively good one would cost at least 4 times that, so it would be worth it if it could last at least 20 years.

Then, comes a local problem: violence. The probability of getting robbed around here is high enough to say that a good watch probably won't last 20 years. So, in the end, I don't feel bad for having to use the cheap ones.
I haven't worn a watch for several years. But the most memorable ones I had were:

An old beat up swatch that no longer had its strap, simple design, just a white face with numerals and a crack in the glass. It was the first watch I ever had. Given to me by my dad when I learnt to tell the time on a traditional watch face when I was about 5, perhaps a bit younger.

A limited edition G-Shock with dragon motif on the strap and face. The batteries have long since run out and I still haven't found the time to put get new ones put in it.

A pocket watch that had a Statue of Liberty motif on the cover. Pressing a small button on the top would flip that cover open so you could see the watch face.

And finally a simple Seiko watch with a glow in the dark face, silver and gold metallic strap with a gold rim around the face. Was a present for my 21st birthday, but like the G-Shock, is in need of having its battery replaced.

I think if I ever start using a watch again, it'll be another pocket watch. But I haven't found one I like so I'll stick with using my phone, PC, air conditioner remote control, etc....
When I was a kid I used to buy a lot of watches. I even had one with a calculator. How cool was that then? Yeah I was a geek :P

Now I have a Q&Q Superior that I got as a gift a long time ago. It's about 5-10 years old, can't remember exactly. Can't even find a picture of my model in the first few pages of Google.
I don't use watches. I could strap my cell to my arm? Anyways, IF I were to get a watch, I'd get a pocket watch, just because I want to be eccentric. :D
I havent worn a watch for a few years, which annoyed my parents cause they bought me a [url=http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.cutlery-shop.com/images/2416.6008823c.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.cutlery-shop.com/designwatchesandclocks/poljotinternationalwatches/poljotredoctoberautomaticwatch.php&usg=__bsoXgpdYKWQkHIuGOiBySXudlG8=&h=600&w=433&sz=44&hl=en&start=0&sig2=D6b0t3Ug5OKLJpY5KkmDcQ&zoom=1&tbnid=fHUrureFknNzOM:&tbnh=165&tbnw=123&ei=hsS2TfDyK4OW8QPJpu0Z&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dpoljot%2Bred%2Boctober%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D933%26gbv%3D2%26tbm%3Disch&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=313&vpy=534&dur=6155&hovh=264&hovw=191&tx=120&ty=166&page=1&ndsp=30&ved=1t:429,r:19,s:0]Poljot Red October[/url] for my 21st.

I am of a similar mind about desiring a fob watch, however I also offer a small level of practicality over wrist watches; As a touch typist I dislike wearing standard watches as I find they interfere with my wrist placement on the desk.

But mostly yeah, its just because they look cool and eccentric ;).

Damn, that's pretty epic watch.

I've always worn watch since I was 9 but most of them rarely last longer than few years.

I think the most expensive watch I got was 50 bucks that I got after SDCC '08 but even so, it fell apart after few years or so.

I used Nike watch for last couple of years but it began to fall apart and it's impossible to clean it out.

I got this spiffy nice black watch from Wal-mart for about 25 bucks. Truthfully, I don't expect this watch to last long so I may have to invest in really damn good quality watch or ask for one for Christmas.

Even cell phones are common these days and I have one, I still need watch on my wirst, lol.
