A technical impossibility. Games nowadays are too complex to get that measure of perfection. You can only hope for the lack of game breaking bugs, but other than that, utopia.

From later in the same thread :

Does this mean Paradox Connect will be needed to play/activate the game? Can I play without loggin onto Paradox Connect?
You will always be able to play our games without being connected (unless it's an online match or game of course)

So it ISN'T a DRM scheme. It ISN'T a DLC scheme pulling content out of your games. It ISN'T even required.
...

Actually for multi player gaming (=online match?) it seems to be required, following the answer in the last quote you posted. So its DRM?

Ehh... AFAIK you needed a Pardox forum account to play multiplayer in previous games, and hardly anyone complained about that. All that's changed is that the Paradox forum is being renamed "Paradox Connect", and there will be a few more bells and whistles attached.
Reading the thread, it appears that you'll have an offline profile which you can later connect to your forum account. So, still no activation. Plan appears to have accounts similar to how Fallout 3 approached modding: achievements in the vanilla game in one profile, and to use mods you use a different profile (or in the case of F3, switching GfWL off.) Paradoxscore will also be included.

Okay, so its currently planned only like a forced community thing upon players...
Forgive my unimpressed reaction. :)

Zing! Although that does bring up a good point: should we expect the same level of attention to bugs in their DRM system to be as we've come to expect from their games?

Penumbra maybe? It only had 1 patch. :)

What they mean there is that you cant play an online match if you are not online. Also paradox connect will be optional not forced.

Well, see, that's the funny thing about us old timers. We remember the days of being able to take a multiplayer game and join whatever community you darn well pleased. So to rephrase your statement "What they mean there is that you cant play an online match if you are not logged into their server farm and community, like battle.net and Starcraft 2."
I don't see how that is optional and not forced (I take it back if you can truly play LAN games and set up your own internet server for a 3rd party server list). Would I rate their system as less intrusive than Steam? Probably I would, that doesn't mean I have to like it. Sometimes I think the point of all this forced community building is just as nefarious as facebook, they just want to monetize the community and its data.
Here is some more info.
Quote from the paradox rep:
" Let's get this straight.
It's perfectly fine if you don't want to play with achievements. In fact we expect a huge number of players to have "0" as score.
It's entirely up to you if you want to use achievements / paradox connect or not.
You can play our games without registering them right? this is exactly the same.
You can play with achievements or you can keep playing with mods. We're not forcing you to do anything.
We always try to give you as many options as possible and not shoehorn you into certain kinds of behavior.
The choice is yours."

That sounds really good. If its indeed 100% purely optional and even stays 100% purely optional, than people can just ignore it. Perfect.
