gameon: To get angry or laugh about someone who has issues like that is rather mean.
Issues like what? Like not being able to understand that there are people with different tastes out there? Like not being able to see the difference between objective facts and personal opinion? Like trying to label people you disagree with as "lowest common denominator"? In my opinion, giving negative feedback to people who has "issues like that" is not "rather mean", but is a good and right thing to do. Of course, it's up to you to disagree, but that's how I see it.

gameon: I just feel pity for people with problems.
Why do you think that OP has any problem? Actually, IRL it's too often that people who are trying to impose their tastes on others do not have any problems.
I'd just like to chime in and say I just played a round of Carmageddon and I'm nice and relaxed and happy again. Mind you, if Mr Judgement comes back and refers to me as the "lowest common denominator" again I will probably freak out again. Make no mistake, I am the lowest common denominator, I just don't like being called that by him. By everyone else in the forum fine, but not him! :D
That's a reasonable comment in this discussion. +1

buktu: People who find LSL offensive and feel *that* strongly about it really do exist! It's awesome and hilarious.

gameon: It's not really awesome and hilarious. I can understand why people wouldn't like that kind of thing. Not that i personally have any problem with the series.
Eh, whatever. Different people like different things.

For me, I enjoyed some of this series 'back in the day', but I have absolutely zero interest in playing them again now. Oart of the attraction back then was who I was at the time : a much younger man running smack in to adolesence. That's not me anymore.

But for those who want to play it, have fun.
I wasn't going to get this game, but this thread has got me intrigued, think i'm going to buy it.
I also really dislike the LSL games. I think they're dumb and childish. But I just went meh and moved on.
I think the problem is people had far too high expectations for the 500th game, expecting something like System Fandango 2.

Hence it would have been much better if GOG had simply skipped over the 500th game altogether, and went ahead straight to the 501th game. That way people wouldn't have bitched so much.

I think the only LSL games I've at least completed were the first one (the original CGA version) and LSL5. Back then I felt they were funny games, but I was a mere kid who thought life really is like that depicted in those games. It turned out to be even better!

I'll probably get the GOG versions anyway, they are still a significant part of PC gaming history. It is like owning the Mona Lisa painting, it is not like you'd necessarily want to watch that plain face every day, but still you feel obliged to keep it for some reason.
Thanks to Leisure suit Larry I actually found out what the hell a Leisure suit actually was

Coincidentally, so did I.

SpooferJahk: Sorry for that long winded post, just wanted to talk about something that truly bugged since I joined GOG in 2010 and again I do not disrespect the people who want System Shock in the catalog and trying to make it happen but I disrespect the ones who take it a little too seriously.
Somehow, I feel the hip hip huzzah of releasing System Shock 2 or Grim Fandango here would last max one or two weeks (besides some bitching the games having issues on their very system, or complaining the games not looking as good as they remembered), after which they would be mostly forgotten, and people would move on to demanding some other iconic hard-to-get games.
been waiting for this rerelease for a long time.

Thx, GOG!

Thx Cowboy Bebop for the new DVD cover!
Wet the sexy empire would have been much better choice
