Rebellion Games 60% off this weekend!

Generals! Soldiers! Warriors! We need your services--and time is precious, so I shall be brief: There's a rebellion going on and casualties have been grim--more than half, in fact. 60% off, I'd say. We need you lead our troops and fight--fight to save us all! What role will you take?

An Evil Genius is needed to establish a base, defend it against all kinds of worthless nogoodniks, and help conquer the world. If that's not your style, perhaps you'd like to establish yourself as a of the [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/lords_of_the_realm_3]Realm, using your strategic and tactical knowhow to crush your opponents and bring the rule of law to the land--your law. You may even have dark powers whispered of only in the shadows, and learn to be a [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/empire_earth_2_gold]Earth Extend your power to control every inch of the ground, for once you've mastered [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/ground_control_expansion]Ground , you will find yourself truly feared. The rebellion may not be over, though--watch out for a [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/sniper_elite_berlin_1945]Sniper Elite who will try and gun you down, and punish those last few dissenters like Judge Dredd.

Finally, once you've crushed the world under your heel? Kick back and enjoy a fun game of pinball. Being a world emperor isn't all work. ;)

And, in case you've missed it, here's what's new. Check out our weekly video about GOG.com's releases and promos and, please be sure to subscribe, like, share, tweet, or plus one our videos if you like 'em. :)

JMich: Have they found an intern yet?
avatar
gameon: Not that i know of.
They're in the office interviewing today. That would be a heck of a trial by fire:

"Oh, thank goodness you're here. Quick: fix this newspost."

"But I don't--"

"Dammit, man. There's no time!"
Hmm...

Blood Bowl?
Excellent write up. Makes me want to buy the games in the promo that I don't have. Maybe eventually but not today.

TheEnigmaticT: Whoops. Forgot to add the "This Week" video in there. G-Doc is out sick and I have no idea what the heck I'm doing. :P
Send my best wishes to Doc, feel better soon. There's all kinds of nasty bugs goin around over here too, and my damn plasma gun is useless against them...

Profanity: Heard so much praise for Evil Genius over the years, might as well grab it.

Anything else noteworthy?
Lords of the Realm Royal Edition
Ground Control 1 + 2

JMich: Balls? The hint is balls? Could it be we need balls of steel to play it?
Indeed, especially if the game is Balls of Steel?

Mccy_McFlinn: I'm tempted by Lord of the Realm. How has it withstood the ravages of time? Does it still hold up?

(I never played it back in the day, by the way)
I don't play it since I lost the cd some 8 years ago so I can't say how bad it aged, but just remembering the fun me and my cousin had when playing LotR2 makes me want to go home right now, install it and spend the next 6 weeks conquering counties from greedy royalty members.
I can't say whether LotR 1 is as good as 2 but the second game alone is worth every cent.

Telika: Dear People Who Haven't Bought Evil Genius Yet,
you are AWARE that this game sounds like this :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFw_48vv5NQ
right ?
Oh come on! I had just decided to not buy anything, my mind was at peace.
And you just had to... *grumblegrumble*
Have to give it some more thought then... *sigh*

SLP2000: it's balls or bones? I can't hear it.
avatar
JMich: Captions are your friend. Balls.
You mean the youtube automatic subtitles? Can't speak for the english recognition quality, but I found out about them few days ago and tested it on some german videos - the results were funny but in many cases not even close to the spoken word ;-) I'm really not sure if it's bombs or balls.

Edit1: Third option would be bongs, but I'm sure that's really not the case.
Edit2: Okay, rewatched it with subtitles and they're working great here. I guess they're not the automatic ones and EnigmaticT uploaded the text. So, it's very likely balls ;-)

SCPM: Indeed, especially if the game is Balls of Steel?
Or Ball Breakers?
So...Lords of Magic.

I briefly looked at reviews and 2 of them indicate the game is kinda broke with overpowered units that spawn and destroy you or any AI's that happen to be near. One review is from 2009 and the other from a month ago. (Edit: found 2 more bad reviews from 2011 indicating overpowered units do spawn still).

So, whats the verdict from those of you who have the game on GOG (and NOT remember it from days of yore by as most of the reviews indicate) - is it broke on some level that these powerful units keep spawning? I know its only ~$2 and change so not a big investment but I don't want to buy something and second guess myself that I didn't listen and see it in my inventory as a reminder cuz all that will do is make me hesitate more on the next game I'm indecisive about and maybe not giv that game a chance.

Thanks in advance for any good info :).

Oooh I would love the hint to be about a gog release of Rock of Ages.

And while we're at trailers :

Hmm... the next game clue... well, taken literally, it could refer to any hard game. Or it could refer to any game with "Ball" in the title. If you think about it, it could be referring to some kind of pinball or "Breakout" type game. The longshot theory I have is that since an anatomy related clue was given out for Leisure Suit Larry, another anatomy related clue could herald a second Larry bundle, which would include Love for Sail, Pinball and Casino. Another theory is that it could be... Duke Nukem Forever...

Or T's trolling us, and it'll wind up being Bard's Tale.

Could be, but Rock of Ages is published by Atlus, who is not currently signed to GOG. They could be announced, but we're probably too close to the GOG conference for them to announce a publisher beforehand.

Could it be Cinders? :-P

There are some sports games which both feature balls and reference them in the title, so maybe it's Speedball (which is at least more likely than the Archer MacLean snooker game which was subtitled Cueball, though a man can dream).
Hey, nice write-up, I bet even General Rodriguez would be proud of it :).
