Great story, great graphics, great puzzles--all you need from a point-and-click.

A New Beginning - Final Cut, a cinematic adventure thriller done graphic novel-style, is available for $4.99 until January 3 2013, or 75% off, which is $2.49, in today's End of the World Sale.

In 500 years the Earth will be uninhabitable due to climatic changes (supposing it doesn't end on Friday). Survival will be only possible in secluded subterranean locations. The magnetic field of the planet is close to breaking down. Solar activity might end all life as we know it.
You're Fay, radio operator sent from the dark future to the XX-th Century to prevent the climatic change and save the world. All other teams sent from 2500 have failed. With help of eco-engineer Bent Svensson you need to avoid the catastrophe, while also stopping Salvador, another time traveller who's willing to do anything to make sure that the future as he--and you--know it will occur.

Daedalic Entertainment knows how to make excellent adventures, and the warm reception of Deponia or The Whispered World from our users only proves that when it comes to cinematic point-and-clicks, the german publisher is the go-to guy. A New Beginning - Final Cut follows the tradition with gorgeously detailed hand-drawn locations, animated cutscenes, and an excellent narrative taking on the contemporary issue of global warming. If you're looking for a great story with some classic puzzles and high production value, A New Beginning is a title you should pick up immediately. The game price is set to $9.99, however, only at GOG.com, the game is available right now 75% off when bought in the Daedalic Adventures Bundle along with the aforementioned games, Edna & Harvey, and Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav.
So far I've been enjoying it, and I love the comic-like cutscene panels.

The voice work is clearly not on par with their later games. After the fantastic Deponias (and from what I've seen of Chains of Satinav, which I plan on getting soon) this comes across as rather poor. It's serviceable, but it's not going to win any awards, that's for sure. It often also sounds like each phrase was somehow recorded separately as a character's tone of voice can suddenly change from one sentence to the next, which does seem a bit odd. Just wanted to put that out there about the English version. I wouldn't be surprised if the German one held up better.

That said, the game is still good fun. So fellow adventure game fans shouldn't be deterred from picking it up.

A New Beginning after End of The World.
The best adventure of the decade.
A great game indeed. I already own it so I won't be purchasing it, but I'd like to encourage everyone else to get it on GOG.
Finished this one last night. Great game if a little buggy still. While the quality (particularly some of the voice work) may have been lower than Daedalic's latest offerings, I'd say this is my favorite game of theirs so far.

For any1 who is looking for a good point and click... know that while A new Beginning might be an ok game its far from good... the puzzles and the way you solve them are pretty stupid at many times and require you to do totally meaningless things in order for something to happen that moves the story forward...
Characters aren't all that interesting, though they could be worse and really, the story is pretty "preachy" (I dunno.. its ok I guess and very topical.. energy and global warming and so on)

Well all Im saying is that if your looking for a good point and click and your a true point and click fan and you have already played through all the classics million times, buy it.. its not horrible. If you'r not that much of a point and click fan, then spend your money on something better like Grim Fandango, or something...
