Everybody was Kung Fu fighting!

Battle Realms + Winter of the Wolf, an oriental-themed RTS where true power can only be earned, not taken, is now available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

Sit by the fire, young nobleman, and help yourself to a goblet of jasmine tea. You are wise to come here. So many warriors before you attempted to unite this realm under their reign. They were brave and strong. They had the noble knowledge of tactics. They knew how to choose the best steel for swords. They had fists that could punch holes through stone walls. They had eyes that could spot a sneaking ninja in the middle of a cloudy night. They had hearts that knew no fear nor remorse. But none of them came to seek advice of an old man living on the mountain. And--one by one--they failed. Their power crumbled, their dreams vanished, and they lives faded. You are wise to come here, young nobleman. But this is only your first step towards the true wisdom and the true power that only comes with balance. I will teach you. But now, finish your tea and bring us some water from the spring.

Battle Realms + Winter of the Wolf is a game defined by its setting--an RTS that combines resource management, unit development, and tactical gameplay with storytelling inspired by the Kung Fu movies and oriental culture. Follow the story of a young nobleman Kenji, heir to the Dragon throne, who was exiled from his homeland and now seeks a way to regain his heritage. With unique units and many original ideas Battle Realms is a game that no RTS fan can afford to miss.

Choose your path with caution and let yourself be guided by the ancient wisdom of Zen in Battle Realms + Winter of the Wolf, for only $9.99!

timppu: Then again, this is one of those games I'm unsure if I have on retail version already. The name is familiar, but the box cover art doesn't quite ring the bell (nor the gameplay screens). I guess I need to check it at home.

Fred_DM: here's a hint: if you can't even remember whether you already own it or not, it can't be that good...
Here's another hint: it might also be that I have bought it at some point, but never got to play it properly because of shits and stuff. I have quite a lot of games like that, also from GOG

That's one of the reasons I must be extra careful when looking at DotEmu and some other places, so that I don't end up buying the same games from several digital stores by accident. That has almost happened several times (especially between DE and GOG), and once I even bought a cheap Medal of Honor retail collection, not remembering that I had already bought an overlapping retail collection just a few months earlier (reason probably being that I remembered wrong that I would have bought some Call of Duty collection before, not MoH...).

Another anecdote: at one point I was eagerly trying to find the retail version of Heavy Gear, somehow forgetting that I had had the damn retail game for years already (which I found when I went through my stuff). I had even played it a bit before, but later I probably thought I had just played a demo version. I didn't play&finish that game until this year.

Shit happens, but good to know never to you. You must be perfect then.

Then again, it also may be I don't actually own the game, but read about it a lot back then and was sure to get it at some point, but never got around to do that, e.g. because I couldn't find it in any stores anymore. Or, as F4llout suggested, the title is just so generic (albeit I don't think that is the reason in this case).

By the way, do you happen to know if this game is going to be included in some future Humble Indie Bundle? :)

Brings back lots of memories.

Back in my home country we couldnt afford buying a computer and I usually save my allowance to play this with my friends at an internet cafe. Then when my brother had a computer we play this along with red alert 2. We werent good at RTS but we loved this game and red alert 2

Wishlist for now. Borderlands 2 made a hole in my pocket

SpiderFromMars: Great release GOG! :)
The game was updated to latest official version 1.50g. It runs at 1024x768, so it looks pretty decent on widescreen displays.

EDIT:
Oh, I see you've managed to ninja out your question before I managed to answer your post. Your Kung Fu is faster than mine. :-)

Thanks! Wishlisted for now (bad economic moment of the month) but will buy it for sure soon. I played it in his time and was a great RTS! :)
This game was made by the same devs as Killer Loop if I'm correct, hope GOG gets that one too, I would buy that for the soundtrack alone.
Never heard of this one before. Looks interesting, and right up my alley. Wishlisted for now, as I continue working through the stubbornly large backlog
Great release :) Never played the expansion, so I will buy the game someday :) For now, it goes on the wishlist, which is getting looooooooooooooong
Holy shit YES. I was waiting for this one for SO long!
The game was made by the original creators of C&C!

Highly recommend for all RTS nuts.
The original game was nothing spectacular, so I'll pass.
This game was very popular 10 years ago, especially in LAN mode. At the time when it's all about WarCraft III, this game still manage to stole couple of headline and spotlight.

Very interesting character, storyline, gameplay etc. Certainly one of the better RTS.
Cool release, I only played this game multiplayer a couple of times but I loved it.
It had some cool features that other games didn't have and I really haven't seen since.
Wishlisted.
I've been waiting for this one to arrive, instabuy!
Where's the video on the game card!? :(

GOG you're consistently inconsistent :P

While I'm at it how about adding Gamplay videos as well as Intro vids - afterall I *play* the game, I don't *play* the intros! - they usually bare no similarity to the actual game...thanks!

OT: Looks a great game - wishlisted for now.
Geeze, GOG has a lot of RTS games in its catalog. Good news for fans of the genre, I guess.
