Sometimes, true love just falls from the sky!

Deponia, a gorgeous adventure game that feels like a cartoon based on works of Terry Pratchett or Douglas Adams, is now available on GOG.com for only $14.99 until Thursday, September 13 at 10:59 AM GMT.

Rufus would have been a nice guy, really. That is, if he wasn't such a self-important, all-knowing jerk. But hey! Living your whole life in the middle of a junkyard can do that to you. Why does he live in a junkyard, you might ask. Well, it's not like he had much choice. The whole surface of the planet Deponia is covered with a thick layer of trash. That's why our ambitious protagonist always dreamed of getting into one of the upper spheres, where the privileged part of Deponia's population leads a life full of luxurious bliss, probably even unaware of the garbage piles below. But everything is about to change, as a girl named Goal suddenly falls from the cities above with a warning of impending doom.

Deponia is a top-notch point-and-click adventure game from the makers of The Whispered World. It combines the classic adventure game controls with beautiful cartoony graphics and heaps of brilliant humor. The garbage-filled planet Deponia, with all of its gadgets and gizmos, is one of the most captivating, original settings ever to be featured in a video game. With hundreds of challenging puzzles, tons of witty and skillfully enacted dialogs, and amazing cinematic cut-scenes, Deponia is a game that every adventure fan should experience.

Join Rufus and Goal on their voyage through the mystifyingly beautiful garbage-filled landscapes of Deponia, for only $14.99 in the release week!

Gersen: Strange I don't remember that, do you have some example where it happens? I am curious to see if it happens too with the retail version.
when looking at the truck windshield after cleaning it up + when playing with that jalapeno pepper...

ChrisColon: It seems to be only the GOG version that has this problem, there are sound files missing in the GOG download and there's already a thread about it on the Daedalic forum: http://forum.daedalic.de/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=1563
thanks for the link! hmmm, I hope they fix it soon...

I will try this weekend with the retail version, but like mentioned on the Daedalic forum I really think it's specific to the GoG version. (Which is actually a good news it means it will probably be patched soon.)
Well, I like the art style more than Whispered World, but something seems off to me, and I can't place my finger on it. Hmm...

Anyways, I'd love to buy this, but $20 is more money than I'm really prepared to spend on pretty much any game at this point in time. I know you guys did a lot of hard work, and put much effort into it, and this really isn't a criticism. I just can't afford a $20 digital download title these days, because if I end up not liking it or have trouble running it.. I can't ask for my money back.

Not that I'm likely to dislike this, it looks really good. Just putting that out there. It's kind of why I haven't bought much off of GOG lately. I own most of the good older titles I'm interested in, and most of their new release titles are too much for me. :<

BreOl72: While I`m happy to see Deponia on GoG, I will not buy it now, but wait instead, `til the trilogy is complete. Reading everywhere, that the end is somewhat disappointing (in its present state), lets me guess, that`s the better choice.
I just noticed this, and now I'm actually less bothered by not being able to buy it. I've had that happen to me a couple times now, and there's been more than a few cases where the sequel never comes (at least to the US). I am pretty sure if I'd gotten to the end and had an open ending, I'd have felt pretty irritated and would probably wish I could get my money back, because even though the Developer says we'll get it, I can't really take their word because I've heard it before from others.

Hey, thanks a lot man. It's a good looking game, I was interested in getting it when it was released on GOG but wasn't 100% sure since I'm not too experienced with adventure games. Now I'll be able to give it a go; and it might even inspire me to check out more point-and-clicks. Cheers.
Before patching the game I had some issues with some lines of dialogue getting skipped, and after patching this seemed to get fixed, but now, some characters are completely black, including the the main character when I'm in the town hall.

I don't know if this is because I loaded a pre-patched save game, but has anyone encountered this?

IIRC, old saves before the patch cause compatibility issues. Your best bet would be to start over.
