Sometimes, true love just falls from the sky!

Deponia, a gorgeous adventure game that feels like a cartoon based on works of Terry Pratchett or Douglas Adams, is now available on GOG.com for only $14.99 until Thursday, September 13 at 10:59 AM GMT.

Rufus would have been a nice guy, really. That is, if he wasn't such a self-important, all-knowing jerk. But hey! Living your whole life in the middle of a junkyard can do that to you. Why does he live in a junkyard, you might ask. Well, it's not like he had much choice. The whole surface of the planet Deponia is covered with a thick layer of trash. That's why our ambitious protagonist always dreamed of getting into one of the upper spheres, where the privileged part of Deponia's population leads a life full of luxurious bliss, probably even unaware of the garbage piles below. But everything is about to change, as a girl named Goal suddenly falls from the cities above with a warning of impending doom.

Deponia is a top-notch point-and-click adventure game from the makers of The Whispered World. It combines the classic adventure game controls with beautiful cartoony graphics and heaps of brilliant humor. The garbage-filled planet Deponia, with all of its gadgets and gizmos, is one of the most captivating, original settings ever to be featured in a video game. With hundreds of challenging puzzles, tons of witty and skillfully enacted dialogs, and amazing cinematic cut-scenes, Deponia is a game that every adventure fan should experience.

Join Rufus and Goal on their voyage through the mystifyingly beautiful garbage-filled landscapes of Deponia, for only $14.99 in the release week!

Holy shit, that's stupid!

I really hate Koch Media/Deep Silver - I mean, JoWood was terrible too, but at least they had the decency to release their older titles here on gog.com.

Leroux: You're right about that, see the quote above:
All our games will be DRM-Free here - also The Dark Eye (if it comes one day), but also like TWW, we can not offer german voices.

Leroux: It would have been too good to be true. To a certain degree I could even understand their tactics regarding the pricing, but making the German retail version Steam-only is an absolute no-no for me. That way they won't get more money from me, but no money at all. I have plenty of other games to play (and most of them DRM-free), so I don't have to put up with everything the publishers try to force on me.
Oh, i missed that post. I was right, too bad. :(

Ah, nice. I really liked The Whispered World, although I never actually managed to finish the game, I found the music and artwork to be just outstanding, and I loved the amount of dialog there was to everything.
Will be picking this one up when I have some money for it.

Keep it up with releasing Adventure games!
Didn't quite feel like buying it on Steam, but I was debating it.. But now I can just get it off here which is a much better deal, imo. :D The German and Russian languages are a nice touch, too! Thanks, GOG.
You know what? I'm going to wait until the promo price ends so that I can buy Deponia full price. It just doesn't feel right to buy this game for only $15. You can thank me later. :)

Daedalic_Carsten: Deponia 2 will be in english, german and russian here. For The Whispered World we can not offer the german version here.

But stay tuned for many additional releases from our back catalogue and our future titles.

GOG rocks!
Awesome! Looking forward to those! :D
While I`m happy to see Deponia (and the german version, too!) on GoG, I will not buy it now, but wait instead, `til the trilogy is complete.
Reading everywhere, that the end is somewhat disappointing (in its present state), lets me guess, that`s the better choice.

So - wishlisted for now.
I caved. :( On the bright side however, I have Deponia now. Yay!
I brought it from Steam a while ago. Wish I waited so I could have bought it from here. I loved it. I was up all night giggling and playing it when I first got it.
did anyone notice about the English voiceover missing on some places? sometimes I click on an item or do an action but there's no voice and the subtitles just blink so I can't read them.

it's kind of bad as I think there are places where I need to know what the character says so that I know what to do next, but I can't...
Damn, I should have waited till the sequel was released ... damn you, open ending!

By the way, could it be possible to also release the german version of the manual?
Here is some additional video material on the production of the game. We did much research for Deponia and fun, when we developed the game and the follower Chaos on Deponia!

Yeah, obvious bug is obvious. That should really get fixed, it's rather annoying.
Also, can somebody explain what does this have to do with anything? (if you examine a pipe):
It brings water to the houses. Or with fluid nitrogen. Depending on the escape plan.

Me confused. When confused, me get angry. Titanium SMASH!
(it's probably a translation error. It was either meant "It supplies houses with water.", or that "with" is too much)

Oh, brilliant game, btw. I really wish I had more free time to play it right now.

Strange I don't remember that, do you have some example where it happens ? I am curious to see if it happens too with the retail version.

I only had two bugs (that I remember) with the game :

Sometime the main characters start blinking and the only way to correct it is to quit and re-load.
And some of the voices are over-saturated (for example Rufus-Ex in her shop)

It seems to be only the GOG version that has this problem, there are sound files missing in the GOG download and there's already a thread about it on the Daedalic forum: http://forum.daedalic.de/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=1563
Finished it just now, and really liked it.
