tinyE: How the hell should I know? You forget who you are talking to. :D

lugum: I wish i could forget :p

In windows > settings > device manager > display adapters.
I really think that's the issue, i have a semi budget pc too which was around 400-600 euro around 4 years ago i believe.
Had trouble getting alot of stuff to run too, but then i got a (cheap) geforce 430 gt and made a real difference.
Rather then a whole new computer it might just do to replace the card.
Also always have your current graphic card updated to the latest driver offcourse.

Excellent addition to the GoG library. I have fond LAN party memories of this game ;).
I found Flatout 1 to be almost unsteerable and unforgiving with keyboard. Also the graphics and other effects were quite boring. So I'm not sure how good Flatout 2. I would definitely prefer NFS.

Yeah no wonder you can't run it smooth, that's kinda bad.
Though that is from 2008 and the game is from 2006.

But try to update your drivers if you haven't dont so.

I updated them about a year ago and it was the best thing I ever did because it allowed me to finally play KOTOR 2 and we all know was a SW freak I am.

Okay I'm OT now. :D

You are better off with a real cheapo graphic card ;).
Incredibly fun game.
Wonderful! Flatout 2 was one of the best action racing games out there and it's a pleasure to see it on GOG.
Excellent release, I loved the first FlatOut, will definitely be adding this one to my shelf!
I've always been interested in this game! But why does it say "Broadband connection required" in the Minimum system requirements?

Guess multiplayer.

So the game doesn't have to connect to a server for singleplayer mode, right?

Fever_Discordia: ^This

Literally the only advantage I can see to this version is the soundtrack as it has people you've heard on it as opposed to the (Steam Version of) UC that has some very generic sounding bands I'd never heard of

I think its cheeky enough they sell both versions on Steam let alone potentially do the same here if UC comes as well

On the other hand, I'm not sure I can NOT recommend even a lower-def version of possibly my favourite racing game ever, although you might want to wait to see if UC does turn up unless your ears are more important to you then your eyes!

Oh and this means the last ever Enigmatic hint game finally turned up too - I feel I have closure now!
Goodbye Enigmatic hints *sob*

I'd assumed that the end of GFWL was why these were finally turning up at all actually - so Flatout 2 didn't have it?

(oh and it was purely OPTIONAL for leader boards and achievements in UC before anyone says that its a reason this version is superior!)

dirtyharry50: No, Flatout 2 never had GFWL but Ultimate Carnage does and since it is a form of DRM I would think that right there excludes it from consideration for GOG. Once GFWL formally shuts down permanently maybe this game too will have it removed but that's being done on a case by case basis by individual publishers/developers so who knows.
Yeah, no, I was just saying that, knowing that GFWL is in the process of being removed, I had suspected that the announcement that GFWL had been stripped from UC might coincide with the announcement of its release on GOG, when I worked out the pretty easy last Enigmatic hint was for either 2 or UC a while ago, best case scenario was that we would get UC with Flatout 2 included as a downloadable extra like the original, non-HD version of Broken Sword or whatever - shame it didn't work out that way!

Because it seemed a co-incidence that another FlatOut was finally coming to GOG at the same time as GFWL was being phased out

although GFWL was, in most cases, effectively DRM It is arguable that it wasn't in UC's case because it was quite happy to let you play single player indefinably without ever signing in or activating GFWL, I think it DID have to be installed though, so yeah, I couldn't see that going down well if it came to GOG in that state but TECHNICALLY...

Yeah, I find the steering wheel of my car quite hard to operate when I tie my hands behind my back and use my tounge too!

You're not using the right tool for the right job - you need analogue rather than digital controls for these kinds of racers

The handing and course layout between the 2 games IS quite different though - you might have more joy, who knows...
