A whole new campaign!

Shadowrun: Dragonfall, a fully-fledged expansion pack for the recent old-school RPG gem set in the legendary setting where cyberpunk meets fantasy, bringing in a whole new 12 hour-long campaign and many improvements to the gameplay, is available on GOG.com for only $14.99. The basic game, Shadowrun Returns, is available for $14.99 as well. That's 25% off for the base game for the next two weeks.

In 2012, magic returned to our world, awakening powerful creatures of myth and legend. Among them was the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge, who emerged without warning from the mountains of Germany unleashing fire, death, and untold destruction across the countryside. It took German forces nearly four months to finally shoot her down - and when they finally did, the event became known as the Dragonfall. It’s 42 years later, and a new threat is rising, one that could mean untold chaos and devastation. One that soon has you and your team caught on the wrong side of a deadly conspiracy. The only clue: whispers of the Dragonfall. Rumors that the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge may still be alive, waiting for the right moment to return…

Shadowrun: Dragonfall, transports runners to the Free City of Berlin, a thrilling Shadowrun setting full of gorgeous new hi-res environments, a diverse new cast of characters, and a new soundtrack by Sam Powell, the composer of the original Sega Genesis Shadowrun game. You'll lead a small team of shadowrunners, each with their own outlook and backstory. The members of your team are designed to play unique roles during missions, and each has a distinct set of skills, abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Now, you can save your progress at any time during the game. The new save-game functionality is available in new downloads of Shadowrun Returns and through a patch for all existing copies.

If you miss the times when expansions added enough content to the game to more than make up for their price, you need to grab Shadowrun: Dragonfall, for only $14.99 on GOG.com. Don't have the base game yet? No problem! Shadowrun Returns is discounted by 25%, making it available for only $14.99 as well, until Thursday, March 13, at 5:59PM GMT.

Immoli: I thought this was a stretch goal.

Oh wait, that's right. They decided to cut it out to release the game early (after reaching the stretch goal) and then charge people for it even though they already bought it.

Sad to see gog supporting this theft.
It was a stretch goal, and has been made available to backers free of charge, just as Harebrained said they would. There's no theft here.

I don't get why so many people are all butthurt about this.

Kickstarter-Backers get this DLC for free, so DON´T PANIC!

RS1978: It's not a big deal, I'm sure German language support will be given later. In this case, English version seems to be better anyway. The main thing is that we can get it DRM-free at the same time like Steam, that's an important step for the DRM-free revolution! ;)

JudasIscariot: Well, here's the thing:

There's German for the various buttons and such before you start the campaign but the DLC campaign's text and conversations that I just saw are in English so I am not sure I can leave German on the page at this time :/
That´s sad! Will wait for the fully translated version than! But anyways, it´s nice to fianally have the main game in german ;)

mrkgnao: Will wait until the game is complete. I don't buy partial games.
The game is complete. This expansion has nothing to do with the campaign (The Dead Man's Switch) in Shadowrun Returns. It is a seperate campaign (Dragonfall) with all new characters and you have to creat a new character in the beginning.

Here it is a DLC in a very literal sense, it is distributed through a download. But it is actually a real expansion/add-on. Not a "DLC" like those "cut out of the main game to make more money"-DLC.

Just finished the "intro" and about to start my first group run. Gives the same feeling the first campaign had wich i enjoyed, with a bit more openworld vibe. I recomend it to anyone who has the same taste as me whatever that may be.

KS update with some spoilerish vid links:

How does GOG's DLC system work?

Elmofongo: How does GOG's DLC system work?
You run the dlc installer after you previously installed the base game.
(gogs dlc system had a few bugs when it was first introduced, and hopefully it is all fixed now)

You just install expansion on top of base game and it works.

My definition of "complete" is also very literal. For example, for me HOMM3 is complete only when it includes "Heroes of Might & Magic III and its expansions: Armageddon's Blade and The Shadow of Death". Without the expansions it is not complete (even though they are separate campaigns published at different times). I don't mind buying incomplete games if I am guaranteed to get the other parts for free later, but if I have to pay for them and they require the base game in order to play, then they are part of that game and I will wait for the "complete" edition (in a few years perhaps, but I am patient) at a reasonable price (i.e. for me, under $10).

For me, the major differentiator is whether you need the base game to play this "thing". If you do, it is part of that game, making the base game incomplete without it. If you don't, it's a separate game.

P.S. GOG used to agree with me, that's why HOMM3 is called "Complete Edition" here. Once upon a time they sold mostly complete editions. Now they have moved to selling partial games too, which is a pity.

Not everyone wants to wait for all of the add-ons to come out. GOG releases them now where they can to not lose potential sales of people that would just jump ship to Steam if an option isn't available here.

You're more than welcome to wait however long for everything to come out for Shadowrun. There will undoubtedly be a "Shadowrun and All DLC's" promo in X years or months from now like the Omerta one.
More Shadowrun is always good.
Huge marketing mistake here.. pricing new content to the same amount as the base game and calling it DLC.... people are less motivated to buy it than selling it for the same price but calling it an expansion.
Redeemed my GOG Kickstarter key. Happy to have backed SRR, got the GOG keys to the vanilla campaign eventually and the Berlin campaign free and without delay. I don't really care but we have the steam keys to both as well.
Heard good things about the Berlin campaign, good improvement over the original which I already liked for the atmosphere, combat and music.

If they next city exppack is set in HK, I'm almost certain to get it at launch.

I agree completely. That's exactly what I said in my opening message: "Will wait until the game is complete. I don't buy partial games."

I just hope that the "Shadowrun and All DLC" promo will NOT be like the Omerta one, where a few days later another DLC appeared.
The DLC installed without issue for me.

It's Sword of the Stars that was driving me nuts trying to install and patch all the DLC from GOG.

And I just noticed that you were replying to someone else. This tablet is really screwing with my reading comprehension skills.

Honestly I kind of hope they keep adding modules to Shadowrun. Kind of like one those board games that just keeps going.
