A whole new campaign!

Shadowrun: Dragonfall, a fully-fledged expansion pack for the recent old-school RPG gem set in the legendary setting where cyberpunk meets fantasy, bringing in a whole new 12 hour-long campaign and many improvements to the gameplay, is available on GOG.com for only $14.99. The basic game, Shadowrun Returns, is available for $14.99 as well. That's 25% off for the base game for the next two weeks.

In 2012, magic returned to our world, awakening powerful creatures of myth and legend. Among them was the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge, who emerged without warning from the mountains of Germany unleashing fire, death, and untold destruction across the countryside. It took German forces nearly four months to finally shoot her down - and when they finally did, the event became known as the Dragonfall. It’s 42 years later, and a new threat is rising, one that could mean untold chaos and devastation. One that soon has you and your team caught on the wrong side of a deadly conspiracy. The only clue: whispers of the Dragonfall. Rumors that the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge may still be alive, waiting for the right moment to return…

Shadowrun: Dragonfall, transports runners to the Free City of Berlin, a thrilling Shadowrun setting full of gorgeous new hi-res environments, a diverse new cast of characters, and a new soundtrack by Sam Powell, the composer of the original Sega Genesis Shadowrun game. You'll lead a small team of shadowrunners, each with their own outlook and backstory. The members of your team are designed to play unique roles during missions, and each has a distinct set of skills, abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Now, you can save your progress at any time during the game. The new save-game functionality is available in new downloads of Shadowrun Returns and through a patch for all existing copies.

If you miss the times when expansions added enough content to the game to more than make up for their price, you need to grab Shadowrun: Dragonfall, for only $14.99 on GOG.com. Don't have the base game yet? No problem! Shadowrun Returns is discounted by 25%, making it available for only $14.99 as well, until Thursday, March 13, at 5:59PM GMT.

thelovebat: Huh, I thought that they wouldn't be able to make any of the DLCs or mod content available for the DRM free version.

From reading some of the kickstarter updates I think I foggily remember that they changed their advice to it being easily down loadable via steam but for DRM free you'd have to manually copy in the mod files and those sort of things. There was an problem for a while that Microsoft (who licensed the IP to them) wanted DRM, and gave the concession that the game and first DLC could be provided to backers without DRM, but all future content had to be with DRM. Luckily I believe someone was able to convince Microsoft to abandon this requirement so no DRM for future DLC.

JudasIscariot: If you already have the GOG version of Shadowrun Returns the first thing you should do is re-download the installer for the base game as it's been updated to version 1.2 and the DLC requires Shadowrun to be at version 1.2 in order to install and run.

Once that's done, just download the DLC installer and run it like normal :)

BreOl72: Hm, I seem to have a problem here.
I re-installed the base game (version 2.1.0.6), launched it, but there is no link to the DLC ingame, nor (and here comes the problem) is there a download link in my library...?

I made a screenshot, so you see my problem.
As RS1978 said, change your language to English and you'll see the DLC link. I removed all languages other than English from the drop down menu for the DLC since the DLC is mostly in English with localized menu screens :)

Ah,...thank you guys!
See, that's, why I like GOG so much - ask and you will receive an answer immediately. :o)
I might pick up this DLC later, I'm in no real hurry at the moment (too much spending this week). I did kickstart back the game and redeemed on steam, bought the base game a while ago here, so I will at some stage get the DLC. Hopefully GOG gets more money from their cut from me buying it here than steam got from the publisher via kickstarter, that was my theory when I redeemed on steam. Who knows.

If you're a backer, you should have received a free GOG-code (if you had contacted HBS, they'd sent you a code).
The same goes for this DLC.
I think I've finally come to the conclusion that I don't really like the Shadowrun setting. I have no familiarity with the tabletop game except from second-hand knowledge, and I thought it was going to like it in this game... but it was just too "silly" I guess. Feels like a cop-out to have Elves, Trolls, Dwarves and magic in a futuristic setting, and the story of DMS was just a huge let-down, you'd think in a "cypberpunk" world controlled by megacorporations, where humans are treated as disposable resources and the idea of replacing body parts with artificial replacements brings up the issue of "becoming less human" that the kind of stories you could do would be great - not traditional dungeon crawls but stories of intrigue and betrayal and complicated relations between various corporate bodies, but holy shit SR just gives you magic missiles and dragons, it's like D&D with a twist and not it's own thing. I think I'd rather play Cyberpunk or Cyberpunk GURPS than SR any day. The ending "twist" of DMS was just terrible, I mean "killer bugs invasion" , seriously?!

SR setting is too much D&D and not enough Neuromancer.

Anyway, just my rant.

I thought that might have been an option, but since I redeemed steam codes and the kickstarter only mentioned digital copy (as in probably one) I figured I wouldn't try asking for GOG codes. Didn't feel right to me.
Tried the game but just could not get into it. Might give it a go again in the future.
Definitely a buy....oppps, my wallets runs away, now its crying in the shadows.

anothername: Have they managed to add a proper save/load game system or has the idea been thrown under the bus?
avatar
JudasIscariot: The base game now has the save anywhere feature implemented as does the DLC :)
This is really good news indeed. I got enough RPGs as of yet, so I'll hold on on buying this one, but it's definitely on my wishlist.

tapeworm00: Quick question - I have this on Steam (I know, I know) but I'd rather buy this dlc/expansion/whatever here on GOG. If I do so, will it work with my base Steam game? Or is there a way to make it work?

Thanks in advance :)
If you were a Kickstart supporter, you can get the GOG versions of both the base game and expansion for free. If not, then you'll have to purchase it.

As for them working together, I'm guessing that it doesn't matter where you bought them as long as they're both on your hard drive. The expansion should check for the main game when it starts up, since that's how the gaming industry usually does things.

whodares2: Unfortunately for me I bought the core game on Steam before it was available here :(

If I buy the DLC here will it work with my Steam version core game?
GMG has it for the same price for Steam users. Plus you can use the 20% off coupon which brings it down to 12 USD

DProject: I understand this as the GOG DLC not working with the Steam core game, unfortunately.
Thanks for that information. I always prefer to buy my titles here but in this case....what can you do. Oh well.

His automatic link is missing the final / from the url. Fixed it in the quote, so you should be able to visit the page.
