jamyskis: Gift codes, on the other hand, are a different matter. I've been hearing that gift codes expire when the game is removed.
That was the case with XIII only, and it was a glitch. Firek said that the gift codes should have stayed valid, and they were made valid again. So gift codes will continue to work indefinately.
Be aware that gift codes are not the same as bonus codes, and bonus codes do have an expiration date. Gift codes are 16 alphanumeric characters, bonus codes are 8 or 9 alphanumeric.
i want obscure back here damn it!

jamesbuc: It would be nice if GOG could always give a big shoutout whenever these things happen XD
That's not always possible, but when it is, they usually do.
IIRC when Second Sight was taken down, they were given notice the day of to remove it and didn't have a chance to warn folks.

With XIII, they gave everyone a day or two heads up about the removal.
Well i got XIII just before they removed it, and i would have hated myself if i didn't, but then the game looks better than it actually is. It's sort of redeemed by Adam West who is awesome but the shooting mechanic is really unimpressive. The shotgun in this game might be the worst videogame shotgun I've ever seen.
Some boss battles are really tedious because they make you play from some checkpoint before you got to them, so if you get your ass kicked (which you will) you end up shooting the same 3-4 guys from before the boss over and over again till you want to strangle your monitor.
If you didn't manage to get it don't be too sorry because there are loads of better shooters out there. Except for the celebrity voices and the neat design it doesn't have too much going for it.
I really love to have Obscure return! Hope all the licensing gets sorted out.

I replayed XIII earlier this year, and I still thought it is quite ok. There certainly are much better FPS games nowadays, but it was still ok. You don't even mind the graphics not being top notch, as they are supposed to be cartoony.

But yeah, some of the boss battles sucked, both for the console-like savepoint system, but also because many of the boss battles weren't very believable. The boss is a feeble and nerdy lab professor who just happens to have insane amounts of HP (so you empty your assault rifle on him and he still lives; is that lab coat made of kevlar?), and he throws scalpels at you which for some reason kill you very fast, even though you do have body armor?

But overall, I still enjoyed playing it.

yeah it was ok, the graphics are actually pretty cool even for today. I just was expecting it to be more than ok. It was good enough to make me finish it on hard without giving up on it although it felt like a drag in some places.
