Good day everyone

Friday this week I'm leaving on a short holiday to the Czech republic, I have visited germany previously and many other countries in europe so I'm pretty excited to Visit Prague and other places in the country

I have just a couple of questions for people who live in the Region or have been in the region

- What is Prague like during the day and evening and how much does it differ
- What are the General "Must see" places in the Capital?
- What are people like generally in the country friedly/unfriendly
- How many people speak english, is it as widespread as in Germany for Example? or Scandinavia? and does it differ by region/city?
- Since I'm fluent in both English and Russian It's important to ask - How do people react to english/russian speakers?
- Are there any specific things that I should know how to talk/interact with people before I go?
- Any other advice or comments would be greatly appreciated

Thank you :)
Hmm, no members here that can answer any of my questions?

Sorry, won't answer your questions about the capital for I have never, ever been there. I hate big cities (and yet I live in the second biggest city in Czech Republic - oh the irony)

- Czech people are USUALLY friendly and welcoming, and, while I sometimes hear people from Prague are different, I don't quite believe that - however, Praque is supposed to be full of foreigners, so that may be the case.

- That's ok, you'll get around in Prague using english, especially in tourist locations. Just... Don't use russian. Please. It's almost completely different from Czech, they even have a different alphabet, and not many young-ish people use it anymore.

- Don't punch them in the face. They hate that. When you punch a Czech person in the face, he's going to be angry. Oh and beware of the drivers, drivers from big cities in Czech Republic are incredible asses - just be careful when crossing the street, 'mkey?

Are you always acting like you're on the rag all the time or what? The man asks a question and you shoot him down.....cold.

Even though I'm not Czech, I'll give you a quick tip that Fenixp forgot :-)

When in Prague (or in Czech Republic in general), make sure you taste their beer. And another. Adn another... Nad aonther... Nda thernao... It's that good!

And while drinking beer, there's two things you should remember:
- The waiter will keep bringing you another pint (or 0.5l stein), until you tell him you don't want any more.
- He will mark the # of beers you've had by drawing lines on your coaster.

(It's been a few years since I've been to Czech Republic, but I don't think these habits have changed, have they)?

1. Yep...definately on the rag. Using cheap shots to question my sexual status for no good reason.....check.

2. I'll be whatever I want when people lambast someone for no reason other than they made an extra thread about something.

And I don't care if you do...it's just you seem to like acting bitchy all the time. Feel free to berate me, the big bad man now.

(As for your vid link: Does that woman ever stop to think that MAYBE people aren't telling you you're a bitch each and every time because you're a woman, but because MAYBE sometimes you act bitchy? I know when people call me a bitch/etc I don't think it's because i'm a man that they're saying that each and every time they do.)

QED.
Again it doesn't mean i'm always berating a person's gender when I call them a bitch......maybe such people are just bitches. (I call men bitches too btw.....just FYI)

You made two comments referring to a process specific to one gender and only on the third did "bitchy" behaviour come up. You are "berating a gender" when you do that. There are plenty of other reasons to explain it:

1) Having issues in life
2) Personality
3) Mental issues
4) Is misunderstood

You went directly for:

5) Is female

1. If I would have brought up mentality and a few other things i'd still be getting flak most likely. Just instead of being called sexist i'd be called insensitive.

2. Men get the same way as well at times, especially in middle age.....to me on the rag means bitchy/whiney/etc. It isn't always specific to one gender.

Can a moderator change the thread title to "General discussion about sexism manifested by commenting on another user's supposed menstruation"?

This does not have much to do with travel hints for the people visiting Czech Republic.

I've never seen it used like that. Is that usage quite common in your social circles?

All I know is i've used it and seen it used on various boards(No not the chans) when people act bitchy, among other titulars.

1. Whatever. You started it by bitching about Roman, though.

2. I'm an idiot? Then you're bitchy. Happy? Hypocrite much? I'd think a person of your standing wouldn't resort to lowering yourself to my "level".

I'm not from the Czech Republic, but I've been to Prague and I loved it there. Awesome place, friendly people (who mostly understood English quite well). Especially cool if you like history, that city is just filled to the brim with it. Take your time, walk around in the old parts of town, and do check out the awesome cathedral (kinda hard to miss I guess).

I definitely want to go back.
