FOr those who know this game, what do you think? I think it would make an awesome MMO game.
The game is fine as it is, the last thing id want to see is it bastardized into an MMO or even remade with new graphics.

I thought they remastered it already? It's available in the iOS store, and available on steam http://store.steampowered.com/app/3920/. Or are you talking about another game?

I dont mind the one on steam (IIRC the 360 has a version too) What I would hate to see is a developer turning it into a new game with modern graphics and essentially ruin it. If (and its a big if) a developer could do it without it loosing its charm fair enough but if it were up to me I wouldnt give them a chance, It would be like turning Baldurs Gate into a first person action game
Haven't you heard? Pirates are passé. Zombies are the new pirates. ; )

Pirates! (the original game by Microprose) already has 2 "remakes" Pirates! Gold (bundled with the original on GOG) and Sid Meier's Pirates.
Firaxis (or Sid Meier himself) still owns the rights to the game and I don't think they plan on doing a remake. I doubt they'd allow anyone else to make one either.

I don't see any point in making it a MMO either, after all there already have been a few pirates MMOs and they were pretty much failures AFAIK.
And Pirates! is very much a solo experience imo. Other players wouldn't add much to the game.
There is a lack of pirate games but an MMO? I think an adventure game or an action/RPG would be a lot more immersive, what's the point of having a period game if it's just you and your friends dicking around? There has been a trend towards gritty, realistic games and what is lacking is a game which actually looks at Caribbean Piracy as it actually was. You can't do that with an MMO.

Keep an eye on Caribbean!, a Pirates!-like game based on Mount & Blade.
idk I never beat it.. But I did kill black beard 30 minutes into playing it..

this was the last pirate type game i played it was alright but they missed out some good features

A pirate game could work out but needs to have strong story and that setting , i think risen 2 is kinda pirates setting as well

but a mmo hard to say , if they can implement the pirate life well it could work out
The Pirates remake is the definitive version of the game. I was so disappointed that Pirates "gold" on this site lacked that version.
If it's not a problem asking, can someone gift me this game? I want to play it but it's not available in my Steam store. Currently I can't pay you back.
A Sid Meier's Pirates without cartoonish graphics would be a nice.
