Bloody hell, the price on Amazon.ca is 44 bucks! And our dollar is worth more than the greenback right now. Jeebus.

Aaron86: Does this mean you can extract the roms and play them in your own emulator?
I've never messed with Genesis emulation so I honestly don't know.
I'm glad to see something like this. The only bad thing I have to say is that beating those games using saves that were not allowed in the originals won't earn you any street cred with the old-timers :)

It's a hell of a lot more fun though.

StingingVelvet: If you have a ton of Sega ROMs on your PC I urge you to pony-up and pay for this release, it's really excellent.
I'll do this only if the release contains the games' original ROMs. Emulators are a retrogamer's best friends, I have always feel this way and I won't change now even if the big corps seem to be a little more conscious about they back catalogue...

If you don't own the games in any way then playing them through ROMs is very morally suspect.

Yes, but buying this bundle and being able to extract the ROMs from it to, say, play the games on a smartphone could be nice. It's less painful than buying the bundle, putting it in a drawer, and then browsing the web to download the ROMs without ethical issues.
Do want!

StingingVelvet: This thing is awesome. This thing right here.

40+ console games on the PC as an archival release. The menus are in your native high-def resolution and there is even a v-synch option. You can have the games play in a 4:3 image with bars on the side even if your graphics card does not support that. It has fully customizable keybindings AND controller bindings. It has 4 graphics filter options, including none at all. It has quicksave and quickload as well as hard saves, built right into the game.

It's just perfect. This is how you release old console games on the PC. If every company did this (Capcom, Nintendo, Konami, etc.) I would literally jump for joy, which would annoy my girl quite a lot.

If you have a ton of Sega ROMs on your PC I urge you to pony-up and pay for this release, it's really excellent.
"Includes: Sonic the Hedgehog, Golden Axe, Comix Zone, Ecco the Dolphin, Gain Ground, Shinobi III, Vectorman, Altered Beast, Crackdown, Space Harrier II and much more"

Lame, if there's over 40 any chance of posting an actual list? Because that description makes me not want to buy it. I probably won't anyway, you used to be able to pick up used Genesis games for 1.50 out of bins, I think I still have most of mine, including some good ones like Altered Beast and Golden Axe (not to mention my Phantasy Star games) and my Sega Genesis 3 was working last I checked.

Damn, now I have to get it out and play it:(

Ugh, I've bought every Genesis or Sega Classics Collection since the Saturn, that's including the Dreamcast and GBA, up to the one for the PS3. I think I'm covered as far as what's offered in the Steam collection.

Nice, thanks for the post. I hate Amazon.com descriptions like that, I guess I should have checked Sega's site before posting.
Hm....not the Mickey&Donald Trilogy. Too bad, those were the only games I liked on Sega...aside Sonic of course.
Meh.

I recently purchased the Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection for my 360. It seems to have most of these games already, as well as a few that aren't listed in that pack, with all the fancy shmancy graphics options, plus bonus content (most of the interviews are pretty lame but the bonus games are nice.)

The only real difference seems to be Virtua Fighter 2 and the Toejam And Earl games. I played the heck outta the Virtua Fighter games on my Saturn, but can't imagine what a Genesis version would play like, and I honestly never cared for Toejam and Earl, so I'm good.

If that is an option for you that pack is probably better, but from a PC-only gamer point of view this package is quite lovely to have.
