Stooner: If I had an extra buck, I would give that Hinterland a try.

IAmSinistar: Wow, that IS a good price. Tell you what, I'll buy it and that will answer the question about the Steam key as well.
If I'm not wrong, It was featured on an IndieRoyale a while ago...
Some people said it was a nice game, just not well polished.

I was browsing the site looking for what I can buy with my 1$ that they gave me... ;p

Yes, the reviews peg it as solidly mediocre. But at that price, mediocre isn't bad. :D

There are a few games under a dollar on there during the sale. I used my $1 credit as part of the order I just placed. Picked up four titles for about $10.

Also, check your PMs...

Leroux: So, if a game has "Protection Type: None" and "Third Party Keys: Steam", does that mean you get a DRM-free version and a Steam key, or does it mean you get a Steam key only? Or in other words: Is "Third Party Key" a bonus or does it mean there will be no direct download from ShinyLoot (which would make quite a difference)?

Accatone: Yes, if a game has "Protection Type: None" and "Third Party Keys: Steam", it means that you get a DRM-free version and a Steam key. Shinyloot is DRM-free focused distribution outlet (only a bunch of their games has DRM, which is very minimal like one-time key validation), and Steam and Desura keys are bonuses for the people who prefer third party keys.
Cool, thanks!

I saw some games under a dollar, nothing too fancy (is a dollar dammit ;p).
But there's Dwarf Quest, a Visual Novel and the 2nd episode of that Reversion game... and Fortix 2.

Good surprise is on the Free-Games section: Hydorah, the best retro-shmup I've played in the last few years! ;p
So far, I'm liking the store...

also, thanks! ;p

hedwards: I see some of the games are GFWL, I wonder what's going to happen to those in the near future.
They're not GFWL. They're Games for Windows.

It's just a brand initiative that Microsoft started a few years back and it means nothing. It's just a standardized logo / branding for PC games.

Oo, nice one! Thanks for pointing it out. I haven't checked their free games in a while, that's a nice addition. Another free one that looks promising is Maldita Castilla.

Dwarf Quest definitely seems to be a good choice for under a dollar, so I grabbed that as well. And anyone who picked up the recent "$1 ShinyLoot credit for free" deal can get that (or one of the other titles you mention) gratis.

Yup! This one I haven't played yet, but it's the same developer! ;p

well yes and no ;

games for windows need a redistributable with the same name , which "can" be upgraded to the marketplace (i don't think the upgrade is a mandatory , but the windows update will try to do so , if you select to check others microsoft product iirc) .

however it has nothing to do with the Live Client,... which i hate with passion.

so it's not just a logo..... othewise all pc games will have this logo ;)

By the way, if anyone figures out how to gift from ShinyLoot, please share the technique. There is a place to redeem codes, but I haven't found a place yet to generate one yourself from a purchase.

Well, that's plain confusing. I could swear that the GFWL logo was basically identical to the one they're using.

It is.

If it says "Live", it's GFWL. It doesn't say Live so it's not GFWL.

Most of them a DRM-free but for example, Hinterlands (which I got to gift triock after ninjaing it out from under him), comes as a Steam code only. When you buy it, go to your "My Games" section and click on the "Get Code" and voila!
