At least they got rid of that...
Yeah, and Diablo III still sucks nonetheless. I've got the Reaper of Souls expansion as well, nothing changes - except for the fact that now the loot system works *slightly* better. Still sucks big balls compared to Diablo II, overall.

I am pretty sure the problem with "Violence is ok and Sex is evil" comes from christianitys big influence on western society, especcially USA. If you look at the bible, everything sex related is bad but slaughtering others in masses (like king David did) is a good thing if they have other beliefs than yours... this is even worse in Islam, but they are not so much into videogames as it seems. ;)

monkeydelarge: It really says a lot about someone if he or she thinks Baldur's Gate and Morrowind are crap because of the graphics. It reveals how empty and superficial he or she is.
Lesson learned. And also something else: Next time I want to go out with someone, checking his game library is a mandatory thing to do. IMO the choice of games tells a lot about the personality =)

MadyNora: One of the reasons my high school bf became ex pretty fast was that he called games like Baldur's Gate and Morrowind "crap", because "the graphics are soo ugly!"
It -is- a popular opinion. Then again, graphics are relatively important for a non-hardcore player - my wife will not play a game she doesn't find pretty. She doesn't need photorealism per se, she does need good aesthetic design to enjoy a game tho.

Sadly my GF thinks that video games are a waste of time,
rather than art like they are for me. :'-(
Many people still think this way. *sigh*

How do you check out the video game collection if he mostly buys from GoG.com?
Is there a way to make your GoG-library official?

I agree. You can also learn a lot of about someone from watching him or her create their Baldur's Gate 2 character. Lawful Evil...Chaotic Evil...Lawful Good... Paladin...Thief...Mage

Many people find me "weird", and "too-tomboyish" because I prefer playing games over going to parties, or doing "girlie stuff", like shopping, or spending hours choosing clothes (wich I find to be a waste of time).
So it's 'even', regardless of gender =/

Umm no o_o
I mean... ask what games he like, or stuff like that O_o

Nah, mandatory thing to do is to find a person with an open mind. My wife only occassionally played something until she's met me, now she's enjoying videogames with me. Well, board games as of now, but I'm a bit burned out on videogames as well so that's a good thing I suppose.

(I am now getting ready for Warhammer 40k enthusiasts going "An open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded." Beat you to it, suckers!)

Good artistic design matters more to me than graphical prowess, per se. A very graphical demanding can be ugly as hell, if the art design isn't good. Personally, I'm not even all that into photorealism in video games, if I want "real life" graphics, I turn on my TV and watch the news. I like stylized art design in games, they're supposed to be a means to escape reality, I like my games as artsy-fartsy as can be. Obviously, there are exceptions, Alan Wake, for instance, is quite photorealistic and tech-heavy, but the art design still manages to offer something cool and different.

Yup. For instance, my wife absolutely loved graphics in The Wolf Among Us, but didn't as much as raise an eyebrow when I was playing Crysis 3.

My ex girlfriend(German) didn't like video games. She said only losers and crazy violent people play video games... She made an exception for the Sims games though...

Better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you are not.

Since dozens of gamers may have instantaniously fallen in love now, may I ask how flooded your mailbox is now since making this post? :D
