I'm one of the few die hard star wars fans who didn't really think the new trilogy was that bad. Hell I even thought replacing the anakin actors in the final scene of return was a good idea. But i do not like the idea of star wars 3D but i'll go watch them anyway. If this is the only way to see them on the big screen again, so be it. I agree that GL has lost his touch over the years but to me not everything he does is shit...

I think the original movies are brilliant as they are. No need to tamper with them when they did, and no need to remake them. On a personal level I stopped trusting G. Lucas after The Phantom Menace, and I've not yet felt the need to buy into the starwars games or animated movies yet. I think it's a pity he'd rather to this than try to think up another great IP, but if that's what he'd like to do, I wish him good luck.

There are different aspect ratios for widescreen, so even on a 16:9 TV there can be black bars on the top and bottom of the image. Sometimes movies will still have some picture cut off the sides to fit into into the 16:9 aspect ratio without those bars. I believe thats what this is about.

No, of course not. If the movie is shot in 2.35:1 format, the only way you can convert that to 16:9 or 16:10 without distorting the image, is to cut off the sides.

Well i don't like 3d but ill get to see them in the theatre for the first time so i dot think its such a bad idea

I'm still dirty they cut Yub Nub from the end of the remastered Return of the Jedi, and didn't bother to include it in the special features on the DVD.

An ill-conceived 3D conversion would stink worse than Jabba's butt crack....

Just don't go to his movies, don't buy his DVDs, don't play any SW games or pay online fees, and bribe some well known SW reporters to advise their fanbase to boycott Lukas.

That is all we need from Lucas now. Fix the original trilogy so it's all nicely remastered and with that extra laser blast removed like the pestilence it is. Then he can retire and leave Star Wars in the hands of people not inclined to pander to small children.

George just has to squeeze ever last drop out of the franchise. And you want to know the sad thing about it? This 3d thing, if it goes through, will end up making a fuckton of money. People will see it just because it's Star Wars. It doesn't matter if its crap.

Or at least make the "I'm gonna shoot you from half a meter away and miss" a better shot.
