It's too hard for me to pick one favorite adventure game. The classic Lucas Arts adventure games were all great.
I really liked the art, setting, and music in Grim Fandango. It's a shame they aren't here on GOG.
:'(
Not in but thanks, triock! I finished Hero of the Kingdom yesterday and while it's not exactly an adventure game in the true sense of the word, it was great fun - very difficult to stop playing until you've gotten 100% ;-)
Not in, but thanks, triock!

Monkey Island 1+2. I hated some of the puzzles (because they made no f*cking sense), but the humour kept me playing until the end :D
Thanks for the giveaway! Adventure games are one my my favouritest genres, and it is always nice to see them get more exposure. I'd like to be in for Deponia.

My answer for one of my favourites is a very common and obvious one, but it is like that for a reason. IT IS THAT GOOD!
Of course, I'm talking about Monkey Island 2.

What do I like about it? What's NOT to like about it? Incredible music, awesome graphics, hilarious storytelling, inventive and tiered puzzles, combining to make it a really adventurey sort of adventure game.
If a sequel was ever made (and no, I don't count any of the games that came after MI2 as Monkey Island games), then it should follow this guide:
Ron Gilbert - If I Made Another Monkey Island...
I'm in for 1953 - KGB Unleashed, which does look interesting.

My favourite adventure game still has to be Loom, if only for the sense of wonder it evoked in me when I played it as a child, and still does. The glassmasters' city will always haunt my mind.
Creative gameplay as well, if very easy once figured out. It also has a fan-made sequel in the works here, which I have not tried yet.

Honourable mentions go to Day of the Tentacle for the overall hilarious puzzles, The Dig for its sense of exploration, and the first Gabriel Knight for being perhaps the one in the genre who stroke the perfect mix of overall atmosphere, plot and clever puzzles, and for keeping in the sense of danger without making it into cheap player deaths.
I really must delve into IF someday, I really feel like I'm missing out.

Edit : and everybody play Primordia. Now that's an excellent recent point&click.

Not in but +1 and thank you!
As for my favorite adventure game, well, that's a two-way tie between The Curse of Monkey Island and Broken Sword.

Not in, but thanks for your generosity, Triock!

I still miss the good old "Loom" by Lucasfilm, lots of good gaming mementos...

I think that is one of the best games ever made. A real piece of art. Whenever I think of games like Planescape: Torment that are (rightously) revered as outstanding, I also think of Loom. And somehow I think it is a whole dimension above everything else.
Update - Garrett24601 kindly donated 2 more games to this GA, check the OP. ;)
In for:
7. A New Beginning - Final Cut

thanks you and to Garret24601 :)

I love survival horror games but old school ones like fatal frame, resident evil 1,2,3 or silent hill the old ones, I miss having an inventory and a place to put items away, a save system where you need to go back to a certain place to do it and not checkpoints -.-, use heal items and in general play well or die die and die, not a in a punishing way but in a way that the game treats you like a human that can use logical and think for itself and doesn't need to be guided all the way u.u
(sorry this was only about adventure games :P )

Now about adventure games:
So about adventure games, my favorite game is grim fandango, I love the humor of the game, just right from the beginning the joke about the client that can afford a ticket and walk away with the cane and the compass xD
It also have some great dialogs, like the one in the end with mercedes, about enjoying the trip and not the destination.
It's just an amazing adventure game and cant wait to see it on gog

Not in, but thanks triock (and Garrett24601) for a generous giveaway!

I remember playing text adventures on the C64 and loved how your imagination made those scene descriptions come to life.
Stupid Invaders I recall fondly, played that on the Dreamcast. A game that would fit well into GOG's library. Looking forward to Primordia, which was gifted to me by zavlin.
