From what i gather it looks like it's going to piss most people off like the new X-COM, and sounds alot like the new Deus Ex.
It's not entirely faithful to the original. Then again neither was Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
I kinda hoped that this would be just like the original, but instead of clicking around to attack, you would just walk around and shoot in first person, switching to other androids when need be. I also hoped that the research system would remain intact, and that each android was without and identity. It looks like that's not gonna happen.
Syndicate is a franchise that I believe could be turned into an FPS, if they kept the rest intact, mostly

For now, I'll take the wait and see approach.

Looks awesome. A Syndicate styled shooter by Starbreeze sounds like a dream come true to be honest, I don't care how much it plays like the original.
Starbreeze hasn't ever disappointed me, I even liked Enclave. But I have to say i'm very sad to see this is going to be a first person shooter.

I just wish publishers would take a chance on doing something new. Not revive classic IPs and make it into an FPS trying to get a share of the Call of Duty / Joe six-pack market. Next up will be a Crusader FPS.
That's not syndicate. That's something different. End of story.
As I said in my own thread:

this is X-Com Take 2
FPS ALL THE THINGS
Looks awesome, I'll probably get it.

Yes, I played Syndicate (a little) and most of Syndicate Wars.
On one hand I feel disappointed that we're not getting a proper Syndicate sequel, because let's face it; it was the tactical gameplay that made Syndicate a hit, not the world or story.

On the other hand, I do like my first person shooters, and I'm especially fond of those that drop the modern conflict theme in favour of something more interesting. And this sounds kind of neat, hopefully it'll be a bit like Deus Ex with the upgrades & stuff.

The screenshots look very nice, the only gripe I have is with them using the Syndicate name.
Strange how cyberpunk seems to be kinda 'hot' now.
Like everyone else I had hopes for a new classic Syndicate.

Though I'm not disapointed by the FPS thing. I remember an interview with the original creator of Syndicate and he said one very interesting thing:

"Syndicate was always a game about killing whatever I wanted."

So I really think that the new game can keep up with this moto. :)
Starbreeze lost a lot of it's developers since their last game, so it's no guarantee that it'll be good. There's also rumours of a lot of disagreements within the studio about the direction the new Syndicate game was taking. Perhaps one of the main reasons for the people leaving Starbreeze?

As a last note, I think EA should stick to raping their own self-produced IPs, instead of molesting IPs of long dead companies that they happened to buy up and bury. It's disrespectful both to the original creators and the fans of the original games.
I think I need a hug.
