maycett: So, ys origin and ys the oath in something are 75% off. I've heard good things about them, but JRPGs usually bore me to death. Are the Ys games very different and interesting?
They're action games. Try the Origins Demo and see if you like it. Ys Origins was insta buy for me a $4.99 but I've already got 5 games in the series.

Pheace: So do the GOG games ;)
GOG games are generally cheap and the unified pricing helps stop the rip off of the $1=1local currency

Ah see. It's about what you consider good value. For some that means RPGmaker at 50% is a good value, for others it doesn't. Same with GOG prices, it's personal :)

Which ones do you recommend the most? If not all :)

I played oath in felghana (my first ys game, got origins now too) a while ago and I loved every single minute of it. What no youtube video can show is just how entertaining and satisfying ys's hack and slash is, it's kinda arcade-y. And unless you play it on easy (which is ridiculously easy) it can get quite hard depending on your skill&precision. Origins is supposed to be easier than felghana (don't know if it's true, will find out soon), but oath's normal mode, at least as far as bosses go, resembles the hard(er) modes in other games. You might end up dying a lot, but once you get the hang of the boss' pattern and 'train' a little, it's a breeze and SO damn satisfying. The difficulty can be ramped up to inferno (hard-nightmare-inferno). The soundtrack is badass too. Oh right, there's the platforming element which is kinda bland at first, but later on in the game it becomes really fun. Basically one should think of both oath and origins as action games with platforming and rpg elements. Oath is generally considered to be the better game, but origins offers more variety since you can play it with more characters.

Brazilians and Russian customers probably have a different view on GOGs "fair" pricing.

Well, they are more fair for Polish people than on steam, for example :P

we pay the same as Germans and French...

Like on GOG.

This. Steam, for some reason, sells cheaper in these countries than the current exchange rates. $10 games are supposed to be sold at around R$22 here in Brazil, but they're sold for R$17 instead. RPG Maker costs $70, but the price in Brazilian Reais is R$120 instead of the expected R$145,48. So Steam deals are even better around here =)

It should be noted that this IS NOT a general rule around here. $60 games are sold in stores for around R$200 when the expected price in reality is R$124.70 (I'm talking about console games here, PC games have much lower taxes), so that's why more and more people are migrating to Steam.

But at least it's not 5.99 and 9.99 EUR. If it was, I wouldn't buy a single game on GOG.

Yumi: Which ones do you recommend the most? If not all :)
Ahh.. sorry, I'm probably not the best person to ask. While I own a lot of Ys games I've played far fewer. ;) I've only played Ancient Land of Ys (Apple IIgs), Wanderers from Ys (SNES), and Oath in Felghana (PC) extensively. Oath is my favorite overall but they're all quite different and belong to different eras. One thing they all do have in common however is that they are all very action oriented. Grinding your way to victory is not an option! :)

Over the past year or two I've become enamored with the PSP as a JRPG platform. It has a wealth of easily obtainable English localized Ys games and I've been collecting them.

Ys I & II Chronicles
Ys Ark of Napishtim (UMD release only)
Ys Oath in Felghana
Ys 7
And another group of "meh" dailies.
Dungeon Defenders -75%
Dead Island -66%
Dota 2 -50%
Train Simulator 2013 -66%
Blood Bowl Legendary Edition -75%
Blood Bowl Chaos Edition -33%
Dawn of War Franchise -75%

Individual items for Dawn of War may not be discounted by 75%, but the franchise pack is an excellent deal, especially in Europe (€9.99)
If you own a previous Blood Bowl title, you can redeem your key to get Chaos edition for $10. I just did it a minute ago myself.

Isn't it $9.99 in US? See people mentioning that price.

Yeah, its 9.99 in the US. Another meh daily. Just gonna finish the day out with Sacred 2 Gold i suppose.

Doubt it, Dawn of War is one of the rare cases in which the EU price is much cheaper than the US one, let me check Steamprices

Edit: Color me surprised (and ninja'd), it is!
