Smannesman: Probably because the Gamebryo engine is temperamental, you never know what combination of driver, OS, hardware and just regular game/engine bugs will cause it to crash.
Still, they are both (IMO) an amazing amount of fun.
I've finished both of them at least three times each, even when the third playthrough of NV was crashing every 30 minutes.
Heck, I'm even playing NV for a fourth time these days.
I don't think this particular crash had anything to do with the Gamebryo engine; it was crashing pretty much immediately whenever I tried to launch the game until I disabled GFWL.

Anyway it would be nice if Bethesda signed up with GOG.com, they have so many games I'd re-buy here just to get them DRM-free & to have issues like this already fixed "out of the box".

Does it really run that badly on PC? Hmm..are there any specific tweaks to get it running ok? Since I'm planning on getting it in this sale.

There's only been the current flash sales so far - the next set goes up in 2 hours.

Well I haven't properly played either FO3 or FONV for some time but they've never really run badly for me. I think this particular incident is entirely down to GFWL being crap. Fortunately it's easy enough to disable GFWL in Fallout 3 by using this: http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/1086/?

FO3/NV may also need some further .ini tweaks with Windows 7/8 but there are threads on the Steam forums about that. This is worth reading too: http://www.tweakguides.com/Fallout3_1.html

BlueJayOnToast: I wish Fallout 3 worked on Windows 7

amok: umm.... it doesn't? I played it last week, and I got 64 bit W7.
It has known issues. But for the computer savvy, there are apparently workarounds.
Still, Fallout 3 never really managed to grab me the same way as the other (non-Xbox) Fallouts did. New Vegas is considerably better.

Avoid. FoV is set to an even lower value than most console FPSs (if my memory serves, it was 47 or something absolutely dreadful like that). I found it unplayable, and online I could find plenty of people asking for help with changing the FoV, but no actual working fix.
aaaaaand the steam servers are screwed. I bought one game and it's just sitting there pending, which means i cant buy anything else...

Just opened a thread regarding this in the Fallout forums. Would be nice especially of German Fallout fans to take a look and maybe respond ;)

Yeah, seems like the people want those games. Haven't bought myself anything yet, maybe I can get other people from countries with US$ to buy them for me and I'll get them games on GOG. Fucking hate this $=€ policy.
I really don't plan on buying anything. I have pretty much every game I could want. That feels depressing but I guess it's a good thing.

Amazon is always aggressive about matching prices, so look there too (gooncave = 1 time 15% off). Some of the indie devs are also matching prices through their own website, best case being a Humble Store widget which may give a DRM free download + Steam key. Read the details carefully.

Unfortunately for me Amazon has no Australian presence, I've tried buying games there before and they've been gated for me, and what I bought wasn't an indie.
Will anything that is already 75% off go for a deeper discount at all?
