Music covers tend to be "interesting" because they illustrate something non-visual. Game covers used to be more inventive since depicting ingame graphics was out of the question, on account of how freaking ugly they were.

I don't know why people keep complaining about the Mega Man box art, I always found it to be pretty good


Dreamfall (Collector's edition is quite nice.

While possibly not the best box cover, I found the Thief 2 box to be quite striking.

I know that it has already been mentioned, but Ultima 5

And I quite like the Ultima 9 box. It stands out in a crowd.

As does Temple of Elemental Evil

And finally, if you ignore the stupid name, Probotector 2

I have memories of great covers drawing my hand to the crowded shelf with a whisper of "Plaaaaay me" echoing in my mind . . . =)

I've always liked Sierra game boxes.

Police Quest 1 remake is especially cool if you have the original box, as when you tilt the box the face turns into a skull.

*edit* Translation suddenly worked. They just seem to talk a bit about the differences in package design in Japan compared to the western world. I have to wonder why they decided to release that game in Japan though, it was not incredibly well received here, and there are probably games that would be more profitable to localize.

Speaking of localizations and cover, one I always think it a bit funny is the cover for Experiment 112 / Experience 112. For some reason the woman on the cover becomes blonde and more "sassy" in the US cover, thought the in-game character never changes (and looks like the one on the EU cover)
