wodmarach: So the tech specs of the wiiU are out.. it's an xbox360... no seriously the only change is a slightly (~2 years) newer GPU and a very slightly upclocked PPC chip... once again Ninty is using older hardware to keep prices down (not that we know them) but the controller is rumoured at $120ish D:

OmegaX: Source? The specs I saw didn't state clock speeds for the CPU or GPU. Rumors did say it would have 1.5GB of RAM maybe 2GB if it's true that the updated SDK modified that.
IBM leaked a little more its a custom chip based on a mix of power5 and power7 no core count yet though so we can't be sure but it looks like an evolution rather than revolution. Rumor (and die shots) places it at 4 cores and yes speed is an unknown but p7's don't run that much faster than p5's with any great heat efficiency.
The GPU is a long term known it's a modified 48xx generation chip that was dug up in last years financial analysis for AMD

oh and it even features an eDRAM cache...

I am betting a ton more RAM will be a standard improvement across all the consoles, since it is so cheap now. 2GB standard I would hope... which translates to roughly 6GB on PC, given how differently the PC handles things.

I read this specs that some people at NeoGAF confirmed as being consistent with the old SDK devs were using: http://www.vgleaks.com/world-premiere-wii-u-specs/
This is what it said of the GPU:
- Unified shader architecture executes vertex, geometry, and pixel shaders
- Multi-sample anti-aliasing (2, 4, or 8 samples per pixel)
- Read from multi-sample surfaces in the shader
- 128-bit floating point HDR texture filtering
- High resolution texture support (up to 8192 x 8192)
- Indexed cube map arrays
- 8 render targets
- Independent blend modes per render target
- Pixel coverage sample masking
- Hierarchical Z/stencil buffer
- Early Z test and Fast Z Clear
- Lossless Z & stencil compression
- 2x/4x/8x/16x high quality adaptive anisotropic filtering modes
- sRGB filtering (gamma/degamma)
- Tessellation unit
- Stream out support
- Compute shader support

I don't think the HD 4xxx supported those characteristics so it may be a highly customized model.
So one thing the Wii U has going for it is that it is "next generation, with the best versions of games from this generation." That's something the Dreamcast did too ...

Radeons have had those units for an age and a half (tessellation unit was in the 2xxx series and the shaders have been fully programable just as long) while they don't support the DX11 versions they do support the original DX10 ones which weren't that much worse.
Beyond: Two Souls

No PC version . (;_・)

The tesselation unit means absolutely nothing. All ATi cards from HD2XXX and above featured a tesselation unit, even the Xbox 360s GPU has one. This tesselation unit wasnt used till they got their dx11 cards out with the Cypress.

Maybe this GPU could support dx11 features, but the presence of a tesselation unit alone doesnt mean too much.

Once again, Silent Rob is 100% spot on
All the console press conferences disspaointed me. That said, I thought Sony's presentation was best becasue of "The Last of Us," "Beyond: Two Souls," and the Assissin's Creed game for the Vita. I was undewhelmed with wonderbook thingy, but Sony still seemed to have the most original and sophisticated stuff to offer. Microsoft was a distant second. Nothing really new. Nintodo was way behind. They simply seem to have nothing to offer me. I'm not a kid, and the only non-kid stuff I saw I've already played. I cringed at most of Nintendo's press conference and 3DS showcase (Threediots and all the cartoony platformers really drove home that if your not a pre-teen, they don't really care about you). Then it struck me--I started liking console games when they became more like PC games. I think I'll buy a good PC and go back to PC gaming, with a Vita and laptop that can handle some gaming for travel.

If it's anything like Heavy Rain I wouldn't personally call that a big loss... (Watching let's play on youtube will probably be a more interactive and less frustrating experience)
