Hey gang.

I plan to play Oblivion on the PC and was wondering which mods to use to enhance the game. I played it a bit on the 360 and there are a few things that made me stop lika scaling enemies and the clunky UI. So can you guys recommend any mods it would be great.

DarkUI will greatly improve the user interface. This might sound a little odd, but since installing that one, Oblivion feels like a different - and better - game.

Also Elven map Redux. It makes the in-game map look all kinds of awesome.

For any others, just type in 'Oblivion Mods' into YouTube, and see which ones take your fancy.

I usually don't use too many mods, just the essentials and of course the stable fan made patches.
The Isle of Stirk is a very well done unofficial expansion. It is very small (an island of the size of a city), but that's because the modders really worked on the quality.

If you want Oblivion to be a lot more challenging and a lot more interesting (more quests, factions, ...), download Obscuro Oblivion Overhaul. Part of the team that made OOO went later to make Magna Mundi for Europa Universalis.

DarnUI is better I think and it doesn't change the art style.

I only use DarnUI and Francesco's mod to improve the level scaling. The unofficial patch had a lot of bugs last I checked but maybe it's better lately.

That can be said about any game Bethesda have made since Morrowind. People will only buy Skyrim if it ships with mod tools. Which it will according to Todd Howard.
Yeah Francesco's mod is a great improvement... lets you customize a lot of things such as the night/day cycles and also lets you have non-scaling enemies (it gets dull when every enemy you meet is an equal match.)

If your pc is up to it you could also download Qarl's Texture Pack which makes the game look a lot better (higher Res Textures) but obviously also has a lot more demand. Also if you haven't got the Shivering Isles addon, it's well worth it after you've dug into the main game a bit.

Edit: Forgot to add Oblivion Mod Manager which makes managing mods a lot easier (unsurprisingly).

1. Get Oblivion mod manager
2. Learn how to create an OMOD - it's so easy and saves you a TON of time while testing mods.
That's the basic you'll need.

3. Get either DarNified UI (short DarnUI) or DarkUId (short DarkUI), depending on your preference. There's no better UI around.

From here on, it all depends on what you what to achieve. You already played it a bit, so you could start with changing gameplay effects you disliked. Or (depending on your machine) improving the visual apperance of the game. Maybe even tackle a big overhaul like Beautifying Oblivion the Complete Guide

Personally I'd recommend browsing through 1 or 2 categories and trying a few mods out, to get a feel for what you can do and where potential pitfalls are. While doing so, stay away from all mods using OBSE or Wyre Bash in some sort for the beginning - you'll need (and should use) them probably sooner then later, but start with easy stuff.
Once you feel comfortable, the sky's the limit.

I hate modding Oblivion, it's such a sensitive piece of cr*p that it's always crashing on me.
And yes I'm sure it's possible to make it work by using a gazillion little tweaks and programs, but the point is that I'm not supposed to be doing that.
Look at pretty much every FPS, they don't crash when using mods.
Of course Nehrim worked, but I dislike german voices so I uninstalled that.

Well, considering that a large group of people work for nothing to bring you those (added) visuals, and conversely Bethesda had to pay programmers some nice money over the years just to make the modding feasible, I'd say the resources war will always be on the fan's side.
Google /v/'s recommended Oblivion mods and follow it step-by-step. There are several sub-guides.

Of note are DarkUI, FCOM, The Dark Spires (tie-in with Morrowind!) and the Unofficial Patches.
