Sorry everyone for the delay in the launch of the new website. Our servers, even though we've augmented their number, just didn't manage to support the huge interest from your side - we're having 20 times the biggest traffic we have ever had in our history! We're adding more servers as we speak and everything should start improving. Enjoy the new website, all the features and the newly released Baldur's Gate.
Still having to hit refresh a few times to get some pages to load, but at least I got Baldur's Gate downloaded! :D

kostejnesmrtelny: Ehm, what lesson? That GoG needed to make a maintanence break in order to move from Beta-phase? Oh well...have fun :)
:) No, of course that you can never trust anyone in this world than yourself. Even not the guys who look nice like clowns and give you treats. Especially not them. And thats a lesson everybody should learn.

On the other hand. I think its understandable. GOG threatened people that they will never ever be able to download their games. GOG never actually promised that download would be possible again. If by chance they hadn't done so before, it would have been too late. Now it turns out, it was only for three days and a joke. Okay, but the feeling remains.

I archived my 6 games anyway. Maybe I can also archive them in some web based data storage service for higher security.

DodoGeo: I wouldn't say it is so much interest, as many people are backing up all their games in fear of another stunt like this.
The best thing I have seen on the site, period!

threatened? that's an odd way of putting something that never really happened.

I can see that you really trust no one. They didn't promise us? well what do you want? a personal letter from the guys here? sheesh...
Man it's slow...
But rather have slow than nothing at all.
I'm still sore from this entire stunt.

Anyway, thanks for Baldur's gate.

Chamb: Did you try using the "by title" option? ;) It's located in the dropdown menu below the logout button.
BTW. There's also an option to change the looks of your shelf. :)
Thanks a bunch for this - my most coveted feature for sure.

Come on, if you actually would have believed that they were shutting down and if you hadn't downloaded all your games for one reason or another, you would have been seriously worried at that point. And now you would say, that you have learned your lesson and would be backuping your games which is a little counterproductive since GOG is here to offer you downloading whereever you need it, so no need to download if you don't want. But thats the natural reaction. Quite understandable, don't you think?
Thanks guys! Glad your back and love BG :)
GOG downloader still fails to conect to your servers.....or maybe there is new version of this software??
The new Gog is amazing. Going to buy BG soon.. keep up the good work guys
This is mostly about Windows7 compatibility, but can apply to other things as well: can we get a message or some sort of indication in our shelf page or somewhere, telling us which games have actually been updated since we last downloaded them?

I was wondering about something like this before. But considering there seems to be no provision in place for informing people about updates to install packages, I'm assuming that they are not actually updating the install packages but just confirming that (at this point, individual games) do indeed work with Windows 7 (before GOG simply guaranteed that they would work with Windows Vista).
Yeah, that's why I'm asking to be informed when a game has actually been patched for compatibility (or anything else) rather than just confirming it works on 7 as it was.
You guys should have never done what you did with your hoax. You messed with the trust of those of us who were supporting you based on how we felt about your company. Before the hoax I liked your company, and I thought you guys had a great attitude towards this industry. It's just so disheartening and maybe some people will say this is an overreaction but I don't want to support a business that acts like a troll and then think a "sorry" will cut it.

Lol ^
All is as it was told before people misunderstood what they meant, though the signs were there. We can dl our games again, our games were active even during the downtime thanks to the no-DRM policy unlike other services where if they pull a stunt like this you cannot play at all, and gog has a new form. How were you actually affected? Did you buy a game just before it went down? Well, shit happens, the downtime happened for a reason and the "hoax" was just the reason it went down for, not that it went down at all. A delay for 2 days is hardly a big deal. Gog is no more likely to shut down after this stunt than it was before. Maybe it was an eye opener to you of what exactly digital distribution means, and why no-DRM is a good thing, but most people were already aware so this changes nothing.
