"EA announced that the game currently has 1.3 million active subscribers, down nearly 25 percent from the 1.7 million active subscribers reported in March."

Also, new Dead Space, Crysis (Q1 2013), Need for Speed games confirmed.

That makes sense. I played until around 3 weeks ago, but I quit when they totally destroyed all my characters with a mega-patch. They didn't nerf all the class, just the ones I liked playing (marksman sniper and bodyguard (healer) mercenary, for those wondering) were two of the main ones 'rebalanced'. There were other changes in the patch that made people mad, so they might have quit around the same time. After playing for a few months it can get boring, even small things can make people decide to spend their time somewhere else.
How do they know that who the core MMO fans are? Sounds like astroturfing to me.
There's another article that states they are denying the numbers went down, but again, supposedly then they gave everyone with a max character an extra free month or something so the fact that their numbers didn't go down is not a shock or proof of anything there either then, since even the people who aren't playing anymore will have been carried in to the quarterly result.

Also, hte fact that the number supposedly didn't change despite launching in other regions as well is just more proof that number decay did happen (in the original launch areas). Either that or no one is playing it in the newer regions.

It's EA/Bioware I take anything they say with a giant mountain of salt. Remember these are the people who will contently either pass the buck and blame someone else or just deny, deny, deny even if you have proof in black and white sitting right in front of them.

Well, I don't see how they can deny that, since the report clearly says that the number of active subscribers is 1.3 million.

Yeah, I've followed Warhammer Online beginning to end. It was smoke and mirrors all the way through.

Hence why I mention the free month and the region releases. That makes a massive difference on the picture 'same subs' (assuming it's even true) gives you.

Ah, I think I misunderstood what the original guy meant when he posted the article, I thought it was a response to it but it seems it came out a few weeks ago, it's more of a thing to laugh at then xD

As an active subscriber this makes me sad. I hope they've got some nice plans in store to get more people playing.

Maybe they will learn not to regionally restrict their MMOs in the future...
I just started playing this morning, hope to see the numbers come up. I really had high hopes for this game after missing my dear Star Wars Galaxies.
isn't that what happens to every game that tries to go up against World of Warcraft?

And that's the problem. Many go against WoW. You do not need to beat WoW to be successful.

Of course, spending 200 million dollars during the development process doesn't help either.
I've been playing a few days, hasnt really impressed me yet

its like kotor with WoW mechanics and more grinding
Not very surprising, it's hard to sustain a subscriber based MMO these days.
Without the monthly subscription I'd be playing it, I was in the beta and I quite liked it.
Partly because I'm a SW fan of course, but partly also because of the story/singleplayer experience which is done better than in any other MMO I've played.

Like that's ever going to happen.
I would have gotten it. Hell I would have pre-ordered it. But nooooooo. "Not available in your reagion!". Well fuck you EA, I'll spend my money elsewhere.
