OK first day of spring break im all excited to wake up make food and look at the news...

Sweet Assassins creed info on my news fee,..... wait.. OMG He's with George Washington.... Link to Article about AC3, late 17th century maybe 18th...

I am so upset about this... First Mass Effect gets raped by EA and the money monsters, now Assassins Creed franchise goes all "American Revolution" which is so overdone... So very overdone... i mean an axe and a gun? assisting general Washington with strategy /yawn... America is so boring...

on a gameplay side there is Nothing buil;ding or structurally significant in America... all cities at that time period were small and only a few stories if that... and there were tiny villages... in re-guards to new york it was still very tiny and organized in squares... just boring, and brown everywhere...

If you talked about World War 2, I'd agree with you. But the American Revolution? Beside a few strategy games, it is a subject that has barely been touched by games. Not exactly what I'd call overdone.

I think the era and the place have some potential.
Meh. I think the era and place have potential. I don't think it fits AC though

This has to be a joke.

I was hoping for the french revolution /revolutinary Europe. But I can see that they want to leave Europe now in the series.

And I think the american revolution isn't really covered at all. I can hardly name 10 games by heard that take care in that timeframe. And 95% are strategy games. (And, of course DOTT :- )
I haven't played any of the AC games yet (I'm still debating with myself whether I want to), but wasn't there a heavy emphasis on climbing tall buildings? Because as far as I know, there was a distinct lack of those in colonial America. Not to mention proper cities.

I don't think the setting is overused. In fact, it's underused, but that's most likely because there aren't many game genres you could comfortably wrap around it.

They have done pretty fast those creed games. I've played the first one (not completed), second one came with my graphics card and there's probably 2 games that came just now and now the third one soon. I don't know what's it all about but perhaps Abe Lincoln wasn't shot, just repeatedly stabbed in the neck by the games hero.

All I know that they are pretty poorly optimized.

In the main sequence there's Assassin's Creed and what I like to call the Ezio sequence: AC2, Brotherhood and Revelations.

Not sure what you mean by poorly optimized. I haven't had any problems getting the games to run, although Revelations was rather crash-prone.

I'm a bit worried that Ubisoft insists on getting the third game out before December 21. One year between releases feels a bit short, and Brotherhood and Revelations both felt like they suffered from being so close to AC2 in time.

I do hope we get more than one city to explore, like in AC1 and 2. I also hope the graphics engine gets an overhaul - it's really starting to show its age.
And what's next? AC:Vietnam or AC:Iraq?

Indeed, the setting has very good potential. I suspect they might be scrapping most of the parkour in favour of cross-country stuff, which would be a nice change of pace, although difficult to pull off convincingly artistically.

Wild guess: they're using the Book of Mormon as inspiration. As I recall there are mentions of cities and civilizations in the Americas there, and the complete lack of evidence that any of these ever existed might play well into the whole world-wide conspiracy/ancient forebears thing.
by overdone im talking about so many countless games "go to America" or have American themes in the.. AC was unique in that it rarely if ever touched on it..

it was refreshing... look at Fable, it started awesome, ended up with guns and muskets and American theme.. im tired of devs just pulling the "USA" card when they run out of ideas...

What's that supposed to mean?

Whitecroc: What's that supposed to mean?
it means what it means... ideas are in short supply.. the Animus is its not bound by time they didn't need to move forward they could have started an arc in Asia or Nepal... heck even the foundations of Russia maybe running the streets of London, how amazing would it have been to climb big ben in nearly the same time period instead of running though dirt in America...

though its all speculation as of yet, but.. im very sad... ive already lost one franchise to greed i didnt want to lose another... i guess this is how star wars fans felt about ep 1, meaning it's going to be good (of course) but what made it AC might be lost...

Probably those doesn't support really quad core and I almost have the oldest of those. It's Phenom 1 series. Still, some much newer games run better. Well, if we are talking about Ubisoft games, I dig more about splinter cell-series. Haven't really taken the time to really get acquainted to AC. Maybe I should.

Episode 1 was good compared to what?
