you know what, i've been playing deus ex 3 HR on playstation 3, and i have found that i die 10 times in the span of a minuet, the load times aren't terribly bad, but when you spend more time loading then playing becuase you die sooner then it takes to load, you get a little frustrated.

i have however, managed to get ahang of the game, what you NOT supposed to do is rush into it and take the first opportunity to move forward you see.

what you ARE supposed to do, is take your time and scope out the movement patterns of your enemys. they are all walking on a preset path, and stick to it the whole time your trying to sneak around them. so memorize their patterns, and you live, rush into it, and you have to fight them, which is difficult too in this game becuase you start out with a tranq gun.

fortune_p_dawg: Did I break my game? Dammit... now I'm totally paranoid and am questioning whether or not I should even continue.

AFnord: Don't worry about it, you can get away with liberating one city and still have the orcs trust you enough to be able to do that quest. But avoid killing any more orcs who are not already hostile towards you until later (note that the orcs around the rebel camp right at the start are alright to kill)
So, uh, details on this possible game breaking quest? I don't care about spoilers.

:)

Good point! Thank you, I appreciate it.

AFnord: Gothic 3 is the better game. In fact, it is actually a rather good game. Flawed, yes, but there is enough good going on to make it a worthwhile experience.
Yeah, I just checked now and the ratings have been bumped up from 3 1/2 stars to 4 stars. So it really doesn't seem that bad. The expansion, however, seems to be the worst rated game on GOG.

I suspect that many of the early ratings were from people who bought the game before the fan patch was released, and who were annoyed with the state the game was in. It really does become a whole new game once the fan patch is applied.

Forsaken Gods though, that game is really beyond salvage. Not only does it have a lot less content than Gothic 3, but what is there is just not very good. It was released to bridge the gap between Gothic 3 & 4, but they picked a developer who had no experience with creating games of this type (or at all, it would seem). The developer was probably the cheapest one they could find, and quality was obviously not their main concern (it was by the way the same developer who create The guild 2: Venice, i.e. the version of the guild that was nigh unplayable because of all the bugs, and that had a tendency of eating your savegames)

fortune_p_dawg: ....load times so long, yet so easy to die.
Pick up the latest community patch and you'll get the best game in gothic series.
Just pick your fights and you won't die much and later you become the unstoppable juggernaut slaying hordes of orcs and other creatures in a game that is huge and filled with tons of quests.
And forget about forsaken gods, that one is quite a disappointment
