So, I play music — only recreationally, though sometimes I'll busk. I don't actually play the flute or the violin — various iterations of celtic whistles/tin whistles instead — but music appropriate for them is usually appropriate for me. :) What I've been trying to do lately is excercise my transposing/rearranging skills, so I'm wondering if you guys have any recommendations for theme music from videogames (or even movies/television) I could screw around with to see if I can make it playable by me! For example, I did Arriety's Song recently. (original found here, it's freakin' gorgeous).

Basically I'm asking you to throw Youtube links at me. :P

Thanks!

The Wind Waker title theme is a rather lovely slip-jig: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83gkYEP5VY4

Pitched in C# here, I'd recommend moving it up to D. The credits music of the same game is a really long arrangement incorporating various other pieces from the game.

Oh, now that's very celtic! Thank you, I'll give that one a shot. :) Gonna have to fiddle with it a bit, as it goes waaaaaay above the range of my instruments, but that should be fun.
Ninja'd!

AWESOME.

Also, I've been wanting to play Windwaker for ages, and now I'm definitely going to. Both these pieces are infectious.

You can never go wrong with Stones from Ultima! This is off the soundtrack for Ultima IX.

It's sort of the same piece. ;)
I posted the arrangement of two pieces used for the title screen and Elmofongo posted the arrangement of one of those from where it actually occurs during the game.

You beat me to it! Although I was going to link the versions from Ultima 6(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4YztEVXk7s) and Ultima 7(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-241S8g6P_U).

The Vesper theme from Ultima Online(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svmbI811xm0) and Cove as well(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4t8KFwPoYTo).

Yeah, I realised that as I started working with them and listening more closely. :P I've already gotten part of the main theme done! This is going to be quite a project.

The Ultima theme music is good too! That's going to require a bit more rearranging on my part, which will also be good for me. I have vague ideas for a single piece which is a rearrangement of a bunch of different Ultima stuff, but that would likely take me some time. You guys are giving me a lot of work, you know. :D It's great!

Meh, now I remember the old Ultima Online Chest Intro and how Origin/EA killed the Ultima series :(

Back on topic though: http://youtu.be/9sX3fjpkFwk
There's a bunch of nice sheet music here. Mostly Zelda, but some other stuff too.

The main tune(s) should fit nicely on a D whistle as well as two different octaves in first position on a fiddle (I think the lowest note is a G). I'm hoping to persuade the ceilidh band I'm in that we should learn it. It shouldn't be too hard since there's a notable number of Zelda fans in the band and we already play Deku Scrub Palace from Majora's Mask as a polka...
