Well if it's GOG games you want, then I'll put in another vote for Sanitarium (even though it's not really horror, but quite creepy nonetheless). Not too many horror games on GOG, but Scratches isn't too terrible either.

Outside of GOG one recommendation I have right now is Cryostasis, available from www.getgamesgo.com for $2.49 right now.

Realms of the Haunting seems nice. And depending on your definition of horror game, Painkiller might apply, too. It's got lots of undead and a foggy cemetery. ;)

I got "Phantasmagoria" when it first came out, and it was great. I repurchased it here, and, well, nostalgia isn't always propped up by the facts. Of course, over the years, tastes change a bit and what seemed great 17 years ago is now simply ok. But it still has that certain "something" that makes it worth the money. Turn the lights off, look past the outdated "real actors spliced into generated scenery" and you can have some fun.

I tried "Phantasmagoria 2" but that kinda fell flat.

"Sanitarium" was quite good too. Twisted.

(And, I know, but I'll just mention "Amnesia" too)

I have seemed the SpoonyOne let's play of Phantasmagoria 2 and it looked like an cheesy horror movíe.
And I also liked GK1.are the others good?

Phantasmagoria is not exactly scary, and it is incredibly easy for any experienced adventure gamer, but it is not a bad game. It has a cheesy horror movie charm to it that makes it worth playing.

And yea, there are not a whole lot of horror games on GOG. Phantasmagoria 1-2, Scratches, Waxwork, Alone in the dark 1-4, Personal Nightmare & Realms of the Haunting seem to be the only ones (Sanitarium & Thief 1 both have horror themed sections, and Gabriel knight 1-2 also has a horror theme, with 2 being a bit creepier than 1).

I have not played all of those games, but out of the ones that I have played I can say the following:
-Scratches has a great atmosphere, well designed puzzles and and good story. A cozy horror game, in my opinion, and one that I really enjoyed.
-Phantasmagoria (See start of this post)
-Alone in the dark has aged poorly, with awkward controls and boring combat. It is a very important game though, and might be worth playing just to see where the resident evil style of action/adventure survival horror got started.


Thief: Not an incredibly scary game, but there are 2 levels that often give people the creeps

I pushed a button and five minutes later punched a monster in face right before it killed me. All the while while trying to escape like in one of those dreams where you're trying to run, but aren't really going anywhere. Running through syrup mixed with peanut butter. .

That my friends, is true horror.

No. True horror is when your only option is to hide away in dark corners, yet darkness makes you see more horror. :/
