GOG loves D&D

The Best of The Best. Unrivaled Champions of the genre. Nine of the Greatest. The Supreme Achievement of isometric era. Matchless. Perfect. 11 out of 10. Yes, you've guessed it--we're talking about D&D RPGs. From now until Friday, September 21 at AM 9:59 GMT [url=http://www.gog.com/en/promo/hasbro_stacking_promo/]you can buy fantastic Hasbro RPGs from the world of Dungeons and Dragons up to 65% off! If by some terrible twist of fate you didn't have the chance to add all of those Diamonds to your collection, now is a chance to correct this terrible injustice. Let's take a peek into the treasury, shall we?

In the center of our D&D chamber we've got the iconic Baldur’s Gate: The Original Saga and Baldur’s Gate II: Complete that collectively received over 10 “Best game of the year” awards from publications such as PC Gamer, Eurogamer, Computer Games Magazine and IGN. And in the cold, ice-filled corner there's the Icewind Dale and Icewind Dale 2 series that brought the D&D license to a more combat-oriented RPG gaming. The strange shimmering light comes from the inter-dimensional portal where Planescape: Torment resides. Winner of multiple RPG and Game of the Year awards in 1999, it is widely considered as one of the best storytelling RPGs in gaming history.
The treasure chamber wouldn't be complete without Neverwinter Nights--a game with a great single player campaign that offers even greater multiplayer experience and modding capabilities. This game is literally one you could play the rest of your life, if you were determined to get through every single user-created campaign or keep attending a multi-player server. And don't forget about the somewhat underrated gems in the collection! Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard is a fascinating blend of RPG and RTS. Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone is an action RPG with some interesting tactical elements to go along with the usual hack and slash of the genre. Finally, Temple of Elemental Evil, one of the tougher tactical RPGs ever--so hard that it balances on the fine edge of fairness.

A short news post like this is not nearly enough to give justice to each single D&D Diamond available in this promo. And because GOG staff loves D&D so much we are going to tell you about our personal experiences with those games throughout the week, starting tomorrow. But enough talk! Let the D20s roll! Visit the promo page to complete your collection of Diamonds of D&D!

viperfdl: This Promo would be interesting for me if it would include the complete Neverwinter Nights 2 games.
This.

Ah, nice. Time to get Demon Stone, then.

Oh, and, uh....Neverwinter Nights 2, GOG? Please. Pretty please. With sugar on top!

Crosmando: Can you please please ask Hasbro to get the Gold Box games on here? Also Dark Sun 1+2, Eye of the Beholder 1-3, Ravenloft 1+2, and Dungeon Hack would be cool too. Don't care about Menzoberranzan as it was an awful game.

AFnord: I think Hasbro has to play nice with Ubisoft for that to happen.
That makes sense. Ubisoft acquired SSI (which did Gold Box and Dark Sun), EA acquired Westwood (which did Eye of the Beholder). And DreamForge Intertainment, which made Ravenloft and Menzo, I don't know, the wiki says they shut down in 2000, but nothing about if they their properties were acquired by another company.

Either way though, EA and Ubisoft are both very active on GOG, releasing games often here, it's not impossible.

Edit: DreamForge and Westwood developed the games, SSI had the D&D license in the 80's and 90's until Interplay got, so SSI published everything D&D up till that point.

makr3la: /e: Nevermind! I won GOG.com Music Contest! Thanks GOG :D
There was a music contest?

Bodkin: Where is FTL?!
Probably being held back for a simultaneous release with Steam in seven hours. :(

I'm looking forward to it, though. I was one of the folks who backed it. I didn't pay my way into the $25+ early beta, but I liked playing the OnLive demo months ago during the Kickstarter enough to buy it, and I've been enjoying the closed beta for the last week or two. It's a pretty good game. I have about ten hours clocked in so far. I wouldn't call it "great", but it's definitely good, and certainly addictive.

On a side note, GOG doesn't support Linux or Mac (nor do they have any plans to), and Steam doesn't support Linux either (yet), so you might want to think about how you buy it if you didn't already buy it through the Kickstarter.
So we are going to get Neverwinter Nights 2 today?
Nice, you own all games from this promo. Have fun and don't forget to check out our next offer.

F4LL0UT: There was a music contest?
Yes. We announced it on FB, Twitter and GOG.com forums.
Meh... a couple may have been interesting, but a couple don't make an interesting promo... :P

Where's FTL? :P
"Nice, you own all games from this promo" - oh well.... next time...
Nothing for me.

Nice to see the proportional discount promos back, I like them.

It is possible that SSI retained all the rights to Westwood's D&D games, it all depends on the contract. And considering they released a collection of games post Westwood's merge with EA, I don't think EA will have to be a part of the negotiations. So just Ubi & Hasbro (which still might prove to be problematic).
I have been waiting ages for this package to go on sale, Thanks GoG
This is the second weekend sale in a row in which I already own all games, hmm.
