Well, taken the recent threads with "I feel so proud" in body of message... ;)

IronStar: Continuity errors? How the f* did the guy that were standing next to me when I rushed to portal got teleported to Normandy? Even after you hear there are 0 survivors on comm? I don't think that was ever explained.
avatar
StingingVelvet: In the extended cut your team gets picked up by the Normandy, randomly.

I liked the ending. It was fine. But I didn't expect some amazing thing, just an ending.
Seems I missed/forgot that. Still, they promised a lot, it's normal I expected a lot. ;)

Thank you elmofongo for the spoilers without warning. What an asshole.
Oh come on, it's not like that shit plot in the Mass Effect games can be called a "plot". The entire series is just a string of shitty cliches one after the other.

I highly disagree. I even might have to throw random insult at Sacrifice because of this. :P

I beg to differ, 1st one had a great promise and was really refreshing in the world of rpg's. It's just that bioware started making worse and worse games after their EA buyout which will culminate with the death of the company when EA sees thay don't make as much money as EA hoped for. Mark my words :D

My opinion it that its just a decent story. Not Planescape: Tormant quality but decent.

They really did piss away the awesome potential of the first one, story-wise. It's kind of depressing.

On the other hand I thought Dragon Age 2 was better than Origins, story-wise. Too bad about the gameplay issues.

Well, at least the story in first one (the only oen that i finished) is pretty good. But can't you talk about the game without giving away plot details to those that haven't played it or at least use a SPPOILERS warning?
The internet... how does it work?

Can I ask when did you play Mass Effect 1?

Of course, they did everything they could to simplify and dillute the story, iirc the guy who wrote the story in the fist place was let off. And the fact that they promoted SO MANY CHOICES as a major selling point of their trilogy was just thrown away and discarded at the end.
I'm a sad panda

What of the word "beaten" don't signal spoiling warning in itself?

While it's nice to post a spoiler warning some responsibility goes for the reader too. You can't expect a game thread that has word beaten in the title a few months after the game has been released to not have spoilers...

I disagree

SPOILERS!!!!!!

I think the whole Mages vs Templar thing is exagerated, in my view the whole Mages and the Circle issue is just one of many societal problems like the Dalish Elves and their history with Humans, and the problems Dwaves face after the fall of their empire in the hands of the darkspawn.

It is the same with mass effect, what if the whole plot was just about the quarians and the geth, or the krogan with the genophage.
Congratulations Elmofongo, you beat a game series where I failed to get past the 1st game :)

Ive always thought that Mass Effect was more original than Dragon Age, but thats another story.

When in my internship in New York, all my gaming buddies and me would talk about the games. I didn't know much about the 2nd or 3rd, but they all told me that if I didn't like the 1st, the 2nd and 3rd were more fun.

Now I don't play bioware games anymore or console games for that matter but, it is what it is.

Congrats!

The first Mass Effect was basically a summer blockbuster sci-fi action movie. Well directed, but without anything interesting story-wise. Well, aside from the choice on Virmire. Best scene in the series.

Mass Effect 2 went more along the route of a TV series where the overall story arc takes up only a relatively small fraction of screen time to allow for world building and character development of a large, diverse cast.

Mass Effect 3 would be a mini-series, I suppose, where most of the world building is done second-hand by way of overheard conversations on the Citadel, with actual on-screen action focusing on the overall story and weaving in established characters where it makes sense.

I was just going to write that first paragraph, but the metaphor sort of ran off on its own.
