spinefarm: If I'm not mistaking we have a game from Stainless Games on GoG - Red Baron ;)
You are mistaken on two counts. One, the games are listed as being developed by Dynamix, which is a US developer with no discernible connection to UK based Stainless (maybe Stainless did something RB-based, I don't know).

Two, with Carmageddon, Stainless are the rights holders. That's what matters as to who gets to decide what gets distributed where. Before they bought the rights they were just the developers and had no say in anything.

Navagon: Upside 2: The current rights holder (Stainless) have publicly stated that their reasons for not releasing the games on GOG is because they really don't care if people 'pirate' those games. They just want them to be played and enjoyed. So while they're not officially public domain, they're one of the most clear-cut cases of abandonware there is.

xyem: Any reason why they haven't just said GOG can offer it as a free game?
U can always ask them: corporate@stainlessgames.com

I've just noticed that they developed one of the Games for Sierra Online(stated on their site)

And with Carmageddon yes they decide about the new game... we don't know what is the contract about the first two...

I nice idea I'm sure would benefit Carmageddon fans and GOG alike. But you'll notice I've left Stainless out of that equation...

But still, it would be one hell of a promotional for their new game if they timed it right. So there's hope yet.
Too much games still out there to add to GoG catalogue so all left for us to wait :)

Titanium: You have to have a special account here to see it in the catalogue, the GOG Elite Membership. I can give you a pass, no problem. Here's all what you have to do: donate $50 on this account:[REDACTED BY ADMIN]

Admin note: Dammit Titanium! One more and we're taking your elite membership status!
I'll probably be violating a few NDA's here, but just to make half a point.

I'm simply guessing here but from what I've read, Carmageddon is a bitch to get working on modern systems. Maybe it's just too much of a hassle for GOG to be given away for free?

Carmageddon works pretty fine in DOSBox.
I guess it will be on Thursday. Although it could also be Tuesday.

Exactly which thursday or tuesday is another matter though :-)
Great plan, don't sell your old classic game and make some money from it again.

Guess the stolen copies will forever stay backed up.
I'm surprised to hear there's a new Carmageddon game in the works it's been a long time since the last one :)
