Supposedly one of the best games of 2011 but I can't stand playing it. Here are my reasons:

1 - Endless enemies with massive health bars. Makes combat not fun.

2 - Brutes and other massive enemies are annoying to fight, show up early before you have good arsenal to fight them.

3 - Whole game looks fuzzy and washed out even on max settings.

4 - Mouse aim feels "off."

5 - Story/humor is crass and stupid rather than witty or satirical (like GTA).

I have tried to get into the game twice now and am about to uninstall it for good. Why do you like it?

I like it because Let's Plays about it are wacky and full of shenanigans.
Probably wouldn't play it much, though.
Hardcore Saints Row fans don't like it either because they removed stuff from Saints Row 2 which the deem the better game.

Me never played 2 and only played it on Xbox, but I eventually grew tired of it, story and characters were uninteresting and missions were mostly dull for me so I sold it not even the DLC was any better.

I would forever love this game if they had countryside, because after San Andreas I believe all GTA clones should have country side.

Saw the GF do a gameplay and thought it was a great game. Whacky but in a good way.
It's so wacky. :P

I knew the game was an instant buy for me after watching the cinematic trailer, and the game itself didn't disappoint either.

I don't know about your mouse aim, but headshots never got old for me.

Graphics were quite pleasant even at medium settings.

Story missions were tons of fun, so much variety.

Driving/piloting was incredibly satisfying. Cars, boats, fighter jets, helicopters, you name it. One word. Fun.

Last but not least, the radio stations were very very good. Every time I got into a vehicle, I kept switching rapidly between the stations to find a good piece.

Loved the game. :)
1 and 2 - play it on an easier difficulty setting. Forget about the story once you have your first hideout and do activities / challenges - that way you get a lot respect / cash and with it possible upgrades. Just checked my last character, lvl43 respect, 1 mio. cash, almost all upgrades and story-wise I'd guess about 5-10%.

5. Like it a lot more then the last GTA. It's so much closer to GTA SA (which is still king for me), then GTA4. Activities / challenges >> dating NPCs for minigames and a +relation or hunting 200 pigeons. SR (at least for me) takes the GTA SA humor / wtf moments, while GTA4 goes way too much down the more realistic way.

I remember an early GTA4 mission in a warehouse. Once you blasted through the whole thing, you'd have to escape with about 20+ cops outside. Drove the car to the entrance, blocking it. Cops pull me out. Beat up cop, get in. Braindead partner AI running in circle before finally managing to get into the car. Meanwhile cops pulled me out again, partner exits too. Repeat until defeat. No fun.

Need I say more?
I've actually never played a GTA game except for GTA4, and I couldn't get into it. I got most of the way through Saint's Row 3 though, and I just love running around being a mad-person, especially spending all day launching people out of their cars. I could do nothing but that for an hour if I had enough cars, and I think I nearly did.

See, San Andreas was my least favorite GTA and I am more into realistic immersive games, not super silly ones.
I like it mainly because it's awesome.
1. The customization is fun
2. The gunplay is fun
3. Speed hijacking
4. Story is actually entertaining (unlike GTA)
5. Game is actually fun
6. Side stuff is actually fun
7. Co-op
8. Vehicles don't suck
9. Zombies
10. In-mission checkpoints
11. Fun story missions
I like it because I got it when I needed to un-stress myself, and this wacky over the top game was just what I needed. Bang bang wheeeek BOOOM, no brains attached. Unlocking the VTOL (without knowing what it was) felt great. I enjoyed it all the way till I reached lvl 50 and became an immortal god, after that it quickly finished the story and abandoned it.

Regarding your issues, I think I played around enough that I was able to fight off brutes when they showed up, so no problem there (other than bloat, but that's what I wanted to do, so...). Don't care much for graphics, never noticed anything about the mouse. Maybe if my mood had been different, I would agree with you on the story/humor part, but again at the time I enjoyed just laughing like an idiot at the WTF moments.

Didn't you liked GTA Vice City the best and that was one of the ""Silly" GTA games?

All the GTA games are kind of silly, but it's this satirical sarcastic kind of silly that I find very funny and it doesn't ruin the more immersive moments. SR3 seems more like a college gross-out movie, which I have never been a fan of.

Just different opinions, people are different.
